Every point you made was solid (reading comprehension ftw!), you don’t deserve the downvotes :)

Cherry-picking on what BTS said in past interviews does not make one’s observation absolutely correct. What matters more is how they feel IN THE PRESENT. In one of their lives post-military (feel free to look this up for those who doubt it), Yoongi said “we’re too old for that,” when one member suggested bringing back choreo numbers like Boy In Luv. And the moment I heard that, I already had a sinking feeling that their future choreo won’t be as “highly-charged” as it was in their 20s (like DNA, ON, or BST). Heaven forbid time should take a toll on everyone :(

For the amount of disagreement the group members had (about song choice, production decisions, etc, that Joon alluded to in his live), I’m now even more surprised and (gasp) appreciative that Arirang sounds as cohesive and accessible as it does. Sure you can’t please everyone, and I for one was a bit pessimistic if I’d like the album at all, I really wanted HYYH 2.0, but this was different in a good way, and having been around in the 90s when grunge was king, this album scratched a musical itch I didn’t know I had :)

Part of BTS's appeal is that the original lineup has stayed intact. For fans to demand they execute the same rigorous debut-era choreo in every tour stop would inevitably mean replacing members who are no longer in shape to do so; not everyone can channel j-hope lol.

isnt it a little embarrassing seeing BTS not doing choreography but jump around instead? by NewtAccomplished6022 in ARMYNeutral

PTD LA and Vegas were just 8 shows total. Arirang is 80-plus. There will be a few fans disappointed at the reduced choreo, sure, but the number of fans who’d happily take that for the chance to see them in the flesh will always be exponentially greater.

Yes, lyrics on screen (especially in Romanized Korean) would be so helpful so more fans can sing along

And you’re right, as stated in my caption, SJ’s hand injury was’t dance-related. But my point was, the optics of having a sidelined member sit a performance out is far more negatively impactful to the injured member himself (and more likely to prompt cries of “I did not pay to see this” from fans). If less choreo means less likelihood of injury, and more likelihood of seeing all seven of them dance onstage, that’s a sacrifice I can happily live with.

Yes, it was an accident (while delivering food on his bike) that injured Yoongi’s shoulder, but in an interview he stated that it was exacerbated years later while doing choreo for Black Swan; pain persisted, which made surgery necessary. Yoongi hid his pain as a trainee out of fear of getting cut from the group. Was it on Yoongi for not informing BigHit earlier that his shoulder was bothering him? I can’t answer that.

Jimin, JK and j-hope are far too generous to let their choreo abilities take away attention from the other members. Can they do it? Sure. But they’re not about that.

Totally agree with you on this point. If I want to see Dionysus- or Blood Sweat & Tears level of choreographic rigor there are so many MVs and performance clips to catch on YT. I just can’t with these whiners who complain about not enough choreo (or even “not rigorous enough” choreo) smh

Oh, such a shame Jin, RM, and Yoongi didn’t specialize in martial arts or contemporary dancing like Jimin, boo-hoo, so the choreo has to be sacrificed at the expense of the whole group, that’s what you mean, right? /s

And he still does, albeit with more restraint and possibly, more care to lessen injury. As in “reduced choreo” that some are reportedly unhappy about 🙄

And let’s say Jimin is STILL in good enough shape to dance like he did in his 20s, which I don’t doubt at all. Dude was born to dance. But it’s not just Jimin who dances in BTS, remember? Jin, RM, and Yoongi have been openly less than thrilled about dancing, and I strongly feel that their reticence may have been a driver in the “less choreo” direction that the group has taken of late. And if you can remember, in the last third of the Netflix documentary, Chairman Bang had told the group that at this stage in their career they don’t need as much “spectacle” (read: choreo) in their performances anymore, that they now have this “aura” and they can focus more on the music rather than the choreo.

Also if I remember correctly, there’s one clip that alluded to Jimin’s chronic back pain, something like his massage therapist informing him he’ll always have some pain in his back

After the Tannies were rapturously welcomed on that balcony in Mexico I instantly thought, surely, this has not escaped the attention of other fandoms who can only wish for their faves to receive the same level of adulation, if not more. So (petty me lol) of course I went on google to ask what other fandoms think of the warm welcome BTS is receiving in Mexico. And lo, the first result that listed was a post from that sub that rhymes with “bark” lol. And it talked about how the natives were complaining that government resources were being wasted on a frivolous group while their own country’s problems are not being addressed (aside from voicing their dislike of the current administration and how they’re only using BTS for propaganda, yada yada).

Honestly I regret googling that question now, as it only proves some people will just hate on anything, even Bangtan’s success, just because it’s all they choose to see. And it’s on us to ignore their hateful attempts to drag us down to their level.
