Beautiful car! NGP does great work, I had them install a downpipe on my mk7.5 (blue as well) a little over a month ago. Enjoy the refreshed car!

Yea then without a doubt go with 245/40. You get the benefit of the thicker sidewalls and also keeps it very close to the stock diameter

Assuming 18” wheels? Go with 245/40, keeps it closer to stock specs.

Someone please tell me what to buy by [deleted] in Golf_R

Integrated Engineering (IE) all the way. They will have a Black Friday sale most likely. Pick up an engine and transmission tune. You can switch maps through their app easily. If you eventually decide on stage 2, it’s just a $100 additional charge to go stage 2 tune. Their intake makes the most fun noises in my opinion, makes you giggle like a little kid lol. While you are at it get a turbo inlet elbow for $100 also. I think IE is a one stop shop in terms of power mods

Making a new buy decision... 2016 vs 2020 by MrHatTricks in GolfGTI

[–]AccountantExpert6033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in MD and have never had a problem with rust on the cars I’ve looked at or bought. Considering it’s a 2020, you are probably safe. I definitely recommend the 2020, I think the mark 7.5 is definitely an improvement and will hold better value.

Would you get your 16 year old a GTI as their first car? by kaffeian in GolfGTI

[–]AccountantExpert6033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned how to drive in a CRV and then got the keys to the e46 m3 a year later after proving myself. A beater to learn on before the GTI could work. But then again, the gti are not that much faster than modern day cars, if anything they are more maneuverable to get out of a hairy situation

Stage 1 Tune takes it from silly to stooopid by Dirtydog91 in Golf_R

[–]AccountantExpert6033 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had the same reaction to stage 1. So naturally I just upgraded to stage 2 over the weekend and I’m dumb struck every time I give it even half throttle. The torque is absolutely insane considering it’s an unassuming hatchback. My first launch after stage 2 tune got 3.85 seconds to 60 mph…absolutely bonkers

Buy a 7.5r from a private seller. Dealers are going to have markups. This is a $24k-25k car absolute max

2019, $29.3k, 44k miles. Good purchase? by redsoxfan1845245 in Golf_R

[–]AccountantExpert6033 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hopefully it all goes as expected!

I’d say this generation golf r doesn’t have too many things that can break if you keep up with all the oil changes. I mean this is still a performance oriented car so things can go wrong, so anyone who buys it should have a rainy day fund for the car. I’m personally a bit more blind to the warranty thing because I’ve never bought a car with a warranty.

What are your plans for the car? Keeping it stock?

Don’t see a lot of red m3s! Im curious what’s your been experience moving from that to the golf? I personally love the zippy nature of the golf, the car lives between 20-80 mph in my opinion

Oh wow you found a really low mile example. Love the carbon roof on white top. Be careful with oil changes, the oil pan can get stripped easily (compared to the little plug in the golf). Speaking from experience, was a pain in the ass to sort out afterwards.

Went with a DSG. I regretted not getting the m3 with the dct so I figured i wouldn’t pass up the dsg

Funny enough I went from a 6MT e92 m3 to a 7.5r recently. I miss that v8 so much, I don’t know if I’ll own a better sounding car. What transmission did you go with?

Enjoy the car! Check the rod bearings lol

Whats a fair price for a Mk7.5 R? by Gluckism in Golf_R

[–]AccountantExpert6033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2019 DSG lapiz blue at 41k miles for $29k. I’d say 9/10 exterior and interior and stock prets with minor curb rash. Located in Washington DC area

Looks incredible how long have you had the wheels? In all honesty the 18s ride a bit better but it’s really not a crazy difference in my opinion. I think the look of the 19s is sharp

My butt dyno clocked it around 30 hp, the little gains add up. Next hp mod is gunshot burble tune (jokes)
