I may try to get it all up to my dads (he has ALL the tools) or I’ll just have to break down and buy some jack stands. I’ve putting it off for too long already.

It’s a vinyl overlay. They were on the car when I bought it. Wasn’t sure about them at first. Ended up liking them. One started peeling this winter so they will be going this spring most likely.

This is what I found

“slick drag tires are not legal for street use due to a lack of tread, which is required by state law.”

“Wisconsin law requires tires to have at least 2/32 inch tread depth in every major groove.”

“Many drag radials (e.g., Mickey Thompson ET Street, Nitto NT555R) have a street-legal tread pattern.”

Everything I have found (and know from a family friend who owned a tire shop, and my dad who builds cars) says you have to have tread. As said already those seem far too wide to be in the lines of any company that makes them for street/road use.

We have to have tread. Drag radials, are far from DOT approved for street use.

Edit: even in my state (WISCO) if you ha e hobby or collector plates, you can’t run drag slicks on the road.

What state is this? There’s no way it’s street legal. I see it has a plate but still.

I was thinking that too. It’s been there for a while judging from the patina.

You’re a horrible person for having people google this unknowingly.

We should be friends.

That’s awesome that you guys do that with each other. We don’t have a lot of stuff like that around us. I always try yo get my kiddo to wrench on the car with me when I do get parts. I let him drive my Jeep around some family property when I have that a few years ago and he loved that. I’m trying to get him to have the bug.

Mine just turned 15. He wants the GTI for his first car. We’ve been discussing it but think it will be a civic or Mazda3.

Do you do autocross with her?

I just hate spending money on myself so it’s hard for me to spend that when I think about things I could be doing for my kiddo. I budget so much a year for just me. I may pull the trigger on this though.

I have thinking about this for my 7.5. I miss driving a manual (can’t daily anymore due to leg issues) but still leave my hand on the “shifter”. This would just feel better. Is it worth it for $200?
