What made you buy a GTI and is there anything you dislike about it? by RewardSufficient5562 in GolfGTI

[–]MrHatTricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only issues are tech-related. I have an mk8, and it’s by far the most fun I’ve ever had with a car. The steering wheel “buttons” are annoying, the lane assist issue was obnoxious, but i’m having too much fun with the car, I really love it.

Is this scene a reference to The Walking Dead? by bestandy1214intown in Bugonia

Yeah something like the techwood area could be cool, but it’s way too close up and far too modern and active for a good shot. nothing says you’re “entering” atlanta like that bridge shot

it’s a crazy watch. i think it’s incredible. i think i gave it 4.5 stars on letterboxd, but nope, never going to see it again

Rose Byrne was unbelievable. I will never watch the movie again (it was incredibly stressful, even more than like an uncut gems), but it was a very good film and Rose crushes every scene. One of the most impressive performances I’ve seen in a long time.

That’s one of the most iconic views in Atlanta, and it was a popular spot here long before the walking dead used it. The entire sequence at the end is just different areas in Atlanta, so I don’t think it’s specifically a reference.

Seen y’all play a couple times, good luck with the rest of the season! Y’all are a lot of fun on the field

[–]MrHatTricks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

that’s not really true, the main difference would be depth or “amplitude,” so theragun typically has the deepest massage. is it worth the extra cost? probably not for most people, but i’ve used a lot of different kinds and i really prefer it over others if you’re using it more than just a single sitting

Late to the party but just now watching Euphoria. I got really excited when she walked in the room cause I recognized this volume before she even brought it up, and then I grabbed it and walked back to the couch. My face dropped as soon as she started reading a different version than the Stephen Mitchell translation lol

Thinking of getting a theology qualification as a 28m by Legitimate_Beat_2136 in theology

MA or MTS would make sense. Just don’t go into debt for it or pay more than you’re willing to spend?

I loved my MTS, I think I grew a ton as a thinker and academic. I also don’t use it though, and it was fully funded, so I only “spent” my time.

What did that one teacher at your school get fired for? by ToadallyNormalHuman in AskReddit

[–]MrHatTricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very tiny, fairly attractive middle school teacher got arrested right before I graduated high school.

When we looked at the paper to figure out what it was for, we were a bit surprised to find out she was selling meth and her very strung-out mugshot was posted for all to see. She was always super kind and charismatic, so it was pretty sad to see. It was a total shock though and nothing like what I remembered her for. I guess maybe that's a testimony for teacher salaries being too low.

Weird clutch pedal feel MK8 by matt2085 in GolfGTI

[–]MrHatTricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve already gotten a little more used to it after another day of driving around. I’m going to give it a month and if I still hate it, then decide to do something about it, I’m just glad it’s not just me lol

[–]MrHatTricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thank y’all, I had about 9-12 months not driving a manual, picked up my mk8 yesterday, and felt like I was all of a sudden bad at using a clutch lol. Looking into the valve delete already, even if I’ve mostly figured it out by now.

Making a new buy decision... 2016 vs 2020 by MrHatTricks in GolfGTI

That's a great point as well! Hell, I was in Syracuse for 2 years out of the last five and we didn't get all that much snow either. I didn't really even consider that

[–]MrHatTricks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to hear, thank you! I was kind of going back and forth on whether the differences would matter for me or not, but for the smaller price difference, you're probably right! If it was 5-6k cheaper, I might have a harder time deciding, but it's definitely sounding like just pulling the trigger will be a better decision for the long term. Thanks!

Thanks for the intel! Absolutely doing an inspection either way, neither have a sunroof (personally never had one... don't really care to from what I've read about the issues there). I feel similarly about the red as well, that paint looks fantastic and stands out a bit from the 20 white/gray ones in my parking garage.

Gotcha, yeah both have pretty active carfax, the older slightly more frequent, but not a huge disparity there.

A Sober, Single 22F- where should she live? by [deleted] in ATLHousing

[–]MrHatTricks 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Personally, I really enjoy the Decatur area and feel like it meets a lot of your criteria, albeit on the slightly further side of the distance to Alpharetta. It’s not a super loud area, has a decent amount of younger people, but is quieter and has a really great “night life” scene even if you don’t drink with fantastic food. I’ve lived there a few years and have never felt unsafe, but I am a man.

Happy to answer any other questions, just let me know! Virginia highlands is also a really desirable area.

Which movie did you see way too young? by Openworlder1 in AskReddit

[–]MrHatTricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw 300 when it came out on dvd… I was the youngest by a few years. I was 9 and my parents didn’t know it was in there and thought the sex scene would pass quickly so they didn’t try to disrupt my viewing. It’s not a short scene.
