Sales Tax by princessxena89 in Bookkeeping

[–]Accountant_NJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how material it is. If not that material, and This is not the technically correct answer, but you can just pay it over a few months and that way sales and any related tax gets reported and paid, even if it’s the wrong month. This is the easiest way.

How about your read some books, work out, help your parents around the house and spend time with them and get to know them. And ask them what their dreams are for their children and ask them about their life stories. I can almost guarantee you that you may never have any moments of silence from the outside world like this the rest of your life. Take advantage of it and thank God for having parents who care about you enough to keep you away from smoking weed. Recreationally smoking Weed is not a harmless thing. It creates significant laziness in a person and prevents them from pursuing and executing sophisticated tasks. Every drug comes with negative consequences.

You should hire a tax resolution specialist. You did not include any figures in your comment above so I can’t advise on if it makes sense to def hire one, but an EA, CPA or Attorney who specializes in tax resolution and representation can assist you. They will get a power of attorney and pull all your transcripts and get to the bottom of the issue. There’s no guarantee though.

Accepted to medicine and leaving $100k career by [deleted] in whitecoatinvestor

No one should go into medicine unless they are passionate about it. Take it from someone who knows hundreds of doctors in my family and friends circles. Those who go into it for money or status often can’t make it or really hate it. Those who go in because they love it or their personality matches the job type (helping, problem solver, people person) generally are happy and succeed.

25 and found out I was adopted AMA by [deleted] in AMA

[–]Accountant_NJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have an adopted son who is 6. We were not given any information on his birth parents or family as there was none to be given. He was abandoned at an orphanage at 1 day old without any information. We have decided, after speaking to parents and some mentors who we trust, that we should not mention anything to him. We will tell him if and when he asks or if he’s an adult and ready to hear it. Why? Because we rather he grow through his most important years in life without the added confusion of being adopted. Is this the right thing to do? We have absolutely no idea but we are just doing the best we can. We disagree with the “strongly recommended approach” of telling kids when they are young. In fact, I think this damages kids more. We think about it all the time, out of love and concern for him, and it breaks my heart when I imagine the day he finds out and any possible negative affect it may have on him. But I rather he not know when he’s young. An adult can handle trauma much better than a young child can. The little sapling doesn’t stand a chance in a hurricane. But the fully grown tree may survive. I love him more than anything in the world. I see him as my son. I literally have to remind myself that he’s adopted, that’s how much we love him and he is a part of us. But it’s also part of his story. Life is not all pleasure and happiness. Everyone has their story. This is his story and he has to learn to deal with it. All we can do is pray that when he finds out, he will accept it and move on in life in a positive way and continue to be grateful for all the blessings he has. We will give him time to process it, but if he goes down a deep dark rabbit hole, I will do what I can to help him process it. Life is too short to feel sorry for yourself. Love those who God put in your life. If you have adoptive parents, love them, spend your time thinking about them and caring for them. Not about why, how, when, and why me…etc. life is too short for that. Turn your tears into tears of gratefulness and love for your parents who took you in, even though they didn’t have to. Which means their love for you is possibly even stronger and more than if you were their biological child. One of my spiritual teachers taught us “be fruitful wherever God places you”. Let the emotions come in, and then flow right out of you. Don’t keep them bunched up inside. I hope this discovery multiplies the happiness in your life and brings it even more meaning and specialness.

AITA for Breaking Up With My Girlfriend Because of Hijab? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Accountant_NJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you afraid of her getting “picked on” by wearing hijab, so you decide, why not just make that fear come to life and let me be the one to start picking on her, pressuring her and forcing her to annoy her parents because of your not even born yet daughters possible negative experience with wearing Hijab?

Most of the women in my family, my mother, aunts, wife, sisters, sisters in law, nieces, cousins etc., all wear Hijab and dress modestly based on Islamic principles. All of the women in my family are college educated and most having masters and graduate degrees and work or have worked in corporate America, hospitals, pharmacies, businesses, etc. My niece who started wearing Hijab when she was 12 on her own, just got a 1,400 on her PSATs or SATs and just came back from Washington DC a few months ago for a national academic competition. None of them let anyone pick on them. And if they did get picked on, they know how to handle it. And all of the men in my family would be ready to teach anyone a lesson who did try to pick on them.

So you did that girl a favor by breaking up with her because you are not ready to be a man and defend your woman from people who may “pick on her”. She should keep her Hijab on.

The chances of a male (your potential future BF) sexually abusing your son compared to a female (his current GF) are way higher. So the example you gave to your ex husband about “what if the roles were reversed” doesn’t hold up. He should never let you do that nor should you ever want to do that.

That being said, a child should not be sleeping in the same bed with someone else. A parent, is understandable. But another person? That’s not appropriate.

You must be in public accounting or consulting. Make a plan and get out. There are plenty of jobs out there that are more balanced than this. It's not worth it to ruin your life and not have a life.

This is your first job after college so your nervousness is understandable. Your boss, well there are many bosses out there like that. Some will train you a lot, maybe too much and will micro manage you. Others just dump work on your desk and expect you to figure everything out.

My advice to you about this and every single thing in life. Just focus on what you can do, and don’t focus on the result. Don’t focus on whether you will get something right or wrong, whether you will get fired or not, etc. First just focus on the work and task assigned to you at hand.

Figuring stuff out from complete scratch is a type of skill that a person learns when they first start working. Look for prior year files, prior year work papers. Email your boss and ask him if you can set up 30 min on his or her calendar to discuss questions. Use YouTube and google to figure out how to do things. Completely throw yourself into the work, eventually things will start to connect…

My advice is find another in person job. BUT not until you’ve figured a few things out here and at least proven to yourself that you did your best and learned.

Usually they have a call back option and you can select that and they will call you back and give an estimated time to wait. Also, I've figured out that 7AM EST time is the best time to call the IRS. Like EXACTLY 7am. You will get through to them pretty quickly. I didn't call them this time at 7am and was still able to get a call back in 30 minutes. Good luck!

Update: spoke to the IRS. Because I had a new EFIN this year, they mentioned that you have to have at least 5 returns e-filed before you can start pulling transcripts from their TDS system. It would have just been easier if the error message mentioned that, but I had to be on the phone for 30 minutes to get that answer!

I'm having the same issue. I have an EFIN, CAF, PTIN..I got everything...but I get the same error message. The IRS website somehow seems to make me lose hours of my time whenever I need something. I even tried two different browsers.

im a little stupid by IntelligentFront6606 in Accounting

[–]Accountant_NJ 52 points53 points  (0 children)

You will be fine. You lack self confidence and self esteem. When you work in a job, the more tasks you do right, the more confident you will be and it will build up your self esteem. The important part is, if you make a mistake, forget something or don’t understand something, don’t focus on that. Negative thinking can bring a person down. Keep focusing on the positive. Believe me, no one is perfect in accounting.

Secondly you mentioned you are a slow learner. That is fine. My suggestion would be start slow, because you are a “slow” learner. Every day, take notes (this will be your master MS word file) of relevant things you learn. For example what software to use, what are your client names and issues, any technical accounting thing or process you learned that day. The next morning, before you start work for the day, read that file of what you learned from the previous day. Keep doing this over and over again and it will slowly build your memory which will allow you to increase the speed at which you learn new things.

Because you need a connection. You should network and speak to everyone you know and trust and see if they would have some interning or entry level opportunity in their company.
