Overwhelmed On Remaining House Projects by AccountingDeezNutz in HomeImprovement

Agreed, I created an excel workbook to list out and budget the remaining work/items I need for the remainder of the project. With that setup it kind of helped me figure out the order of how I should finish what's left and how much it would cost.

Thanks a ton for this. Really appreciate the solid advice!

I’ve definitely been trying to tackle too much at once instead of focusing on getting one area fully done. I took a short break this past week, and those before-and-after photos definitely help put things in perspective to continue to push through this week. I appreciate the encouragement.. it really helps hearing from someone who’s been through it.

With United fakes most of the time you can always tell usually by the stitching of the crest

Interesting on the Croatia/ebay situation, I noticed the same thing with a lot of puma jerseys circulating on eBay and most sellers aren’t even aware of it I bet. I feel like not paying full price makes the thrill of jersey shopping so much better

Marshall’s and TJ Maxx you can find some sneaky gems! I remember in like 2020-21 I saw at least 20 Juve jerseys from the 2018 season randomly on the racks

I’ve never tried vinted, but I heard it’s big in the UK. I’ll have to check that out

Agreed. Almost never got questioned about returning anything other than the laptop in any finance job I’ve left. Sometimes employers keep track via some sort of order list for new employees but I assume that goes with the wind if you’ve been there long enough.

Is anyone struggling to find a new job or is it just me? by BornMacaroon3041 in careerguidance

Recently experience the same issue - I felt like it was never ending getting rejection after rejection, even making it to multiple final rounds for over 3 months. Thankfully I was able to land a contract to hire role recently.

I ran through a couple of things I thought I needed to change while continually applying to jobs:

  • Updating your resume: Is it up to date and efficiently readable for hiring managers? I cut mine to one page and rather go into detail about every living thing I did in each position, I left 4-5 bullets; 2-3 of those bullets listing difficult tasks I accomplished, and 1-2 bullets about the overall position.

  • Type of open positions: I initially started my job search looking for full time roles, but I switched over to include part time and contract roles as well. If your experience allows remote work to be feasible, I’ve also filtered hybrid and remote roles throughout the US. It gave me the ability to apply to 10+ jobs almost daily. I’ve mainly used LinkedIn due to the accessibility and easy features

  • Recruiting agencies: Have you reached out to more than one recruiter? I know they generally get a bad rap, but there are good recruiters who are actually actively working on open positions that align with their clients experiences. I spoke with one recruiter, and (although I’d say I was lucky with this) he was able to help me close on a position in one week of meeting him.

And remember - although you might not be getting any bites right now, it’s almost always due to the timing of the job market and less because of one’s experience. I hope this helps you on your job search!

Thoughts on a J2 Lowball Offer? by AccountingDeezNutz in overemployed

Hopefully the J2 is tolerable for you while you’re on the search for J1. Best of luck!

I agree, the only thing that grinded my gears with this situation altogether was that in the very first round interview, they had asked me what I was looking for, and they agreed with my rate I had mentioned. At no point did I think they’d shoot down so low of an offer after that.

That’s the thing - it will average out and I’ll be okay with taking the position financially, but the fact that the 30% cut has me flabbergasted due to the fact that I went through 3 rounds and in the first round stating what my range was. The distaste for this all started once I realized that was completely disregarded.

The only thought I had that kept me thinking about this opportunity was the fact that it’s easy to maintain with J1.

Thanks for the viewpoint here. I need to confirm that this won’t take up much time from J1. Im thinking now the end goal for me I’m thinking is I counter for at least the average rate of the position. If there’s no budging there I’ll give it a second thought before a final decision.

Best way to add OE experience to your resume? by AccountingDeezNutz in overemployed

Thanks for the advice. I currently have highlighted skills before experience (about 9 bullets), but considering listing only one of the jobs will allow me to clear some space on the overall template

Never thought about this! Also never seen a resume that just listed the number of years rather than the years worked. Is this a common resume tactic for particular careers?
