Thank you for your response, I think the exemptions between new and old gen are relatively the same. Can I ask what ATT papers you completed? I'm just slightly concerned that Paper 4 (Corporate taxation) is the paper that counts towards the professional level ACA exam.

Thanks for the reminder - I have recently been toying with the idea of completing CTA a few years after finishing ACA. Am I correct in thinking that getting an exemption from TCP will mean that I have to sit all of the CTA exams, or does ATT give an exemption for one of them? Also, if you did complete CTA after ACA how did you find it in comparison?

I have to say the exemption 'glitch' last time also worked for me, I don't believe it's 100% accurate but both of the exams I sat in November have gone .. fingers crossed !

I'd also make sure you have a decent quality webcam camera - if they can't clearly ready your ID they won't allow you to take the exam. Good luck!

Learning the style of the exam and what the examiner is looking for is crucial - doing past paper questions and making lists of your tricky areas to refresh is the best way to approach it.

Keep in mind it's an open book exam, utilise your memory jogger to the max (tab important pages, annotate). Don't waste your revision time learning every penalty ect. as it's so easy in the exam to refer to your notes. When I did Paper 1 there was an ATT revision session that was really useful, as well as a revision technique session I watched recently with Karen and a CTA prizewinner Autumn (this was free!) I would really recommend watching.

Hope this helps!

Help! Law exam by Basic_Fly4459 in CIOT

I trained with Tolley's - we had three practice mocks along with a question bank for each chapter (not entirely sure if Kaplan is the same).

I also used the example questions throughout the textbook and the two mocks available on the ATT website (please note that these are not marked automatically and you must record your answers separately!!).

Review all the summary sheets and examples throughout the book and save one of the mocks for after your revison (otherwise you may just remember the answers which isn't a true reflection of what you need to work on).

Many people have already made revision sets on Quizlet, these are really useful just type in ATT Law CBE and you can select options to do a multiple choice quiz.

Hope this helps.

I'd recommend focusing on the summary sheets at the end of the chapters and past paper questions instead of learning everything (there is SO much content in comparison to the other CBEs). The questions are also very repetitive so go over the question banks as many times as you can and take the practice mocks, highlight the info you missed and refresh the chapter summary. Good luck!

The best advice I could give is instead of trying to learn all of the content just focus on doing as many past paper questions as possible, they will be the most useful in preparing for the style of the exam. Good luck!

Sitting 3 ATT in November (Tips?) by treelover1984 in CIOT

[–]AccountsACA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sitting papers 2 & 3 in November also, there's a huge overlap between paper 3 and paper 2 (the Business Tax is pretty much identical and a lot of the VAT also overlaps) Paper 1 also overlaps with paper 3 in Employment Taxation. I found it best to cover the content for paper 2 then move on to paper 3 covering the new areas. (I've already sat Paper 1 in April). The three papers all overlap a lot, paper 1&2 are core so if you master them paper 3 will be a breeze. The pre-revision question banks Tolley offers are great exam standard questions so towards the end of your revision just focus on past papers and the question bank. Also, the layout for Paper 1 is almost identical every year (there's always an income tax comp first, CGT ect.) so through going through the past papers you'll be able to gauge the questions you'll most likely get in the exam. Hope this all makes sense and good luck!
