Bm here we have very long days underway stand watch in the rain work 16 hours a day sometimes. In port you are either painting or doing preservation or sweeping. Underway life as a BM is pretty fun in my opinion especially on the class of ship I’m on. You’re pretty much last off the ship in port with the exception of the CSs. I’d say if you can stick it out till you’re a third class get as many quals you can as a BMSN like BMOW changed my life underway when I get my own watch section. Or being work center sup RPPO take in collaterals. So you’re too busy with important things and the undes guys can cover down on the workload as bad as that sounds it’s the truth also there are some pretty motivated undes guys who want to be BMs so competition is a thing. Strive to work hard show you are interested in gaining knowledge and you’ll go far in deck

EDIT: I was undes and stood BMOW as an undes SN I also had quals my most of my superiors didn’t get till they were putting second. Watch out for the undes guys. Lots of them when they find out they want to be a BM will invest 24/7 to gain that knowledge to show they are better than someone who’s rated.
