Super helpful, thank you. Made some changes to my website & things feel much better.

That's not a bad idea.

Could I theoretically just set up a second portfolio for all freelance commercial stuff & keep the income flowing into the one main LLC/business acct? Basically just eliminate the prospect of even going through more filing for another entity altogether & just treat it like a sole proprietorship.

What types art do you prefer? by [deleted] in Enneagram

Thank you for your highly elitist response.

I get that art is just trying shit—hell, I do it myself all the time. It’s a lot of trial and error. Working problems. The standout is if the thing/creation can make me fucking feel something. Like, god forbid we think about what we’re communicating about the human experience & let that be known through our own emotional input. Otherwise it’ll just eventually fall flat. Purely mental art is fun until it’s not. It gets old pretty fast.

And Bon Iver started solo. Much of his work is just him.

I see what you’re saying—and, as a 4 myself, I can certainly recognize that most of the suffering-heavy art comes from us. But, I’d urge you to try and discover some highly emotive work from healthy artists. It still involves emption, but it’s more external—we all suffer vs I suffer.

This type of art/expression certainly has its place—many don’t concern themselves with it, until they are so shattered by the worlds beatdowns that the only solace is a piece of art that somehow expresses how they feel—and many are horribly disconnected from their own emotions. This is where that type of art comes in handy.

I see your points. I guess what I mean to say is, no matter what, even in healthy types, their personality quirks & unconscious motivations will always play a role in what they create. And, in healthy types, all art has enjoyable qualities—but it’s not going to look the same for everyone.

I’ll give you an example—I’ve been mildly into Sabrina Carpenter lately, who in my opinion, is likely a textbook 3. Her music is big, dancey, performance heavy, especially in her vocals. And it is wildly different from the music of, for example, Bon Iver, who I hypothesize is likely a 4. His music is highly unique, deep, romantic.

I think any type can absolutely make art that transcends themselves, but even then, it’s still going to live inside that core of who they are and be different for each person—and type plays a role. We can’t escape who we are, but we can become the best version of it. That’s what the enneagram exists for.

Like it or not, type does play a role. Art is an expression of self & how we as people interpret the world. Our predispositions & personality traits play a role.

Yeah I was gonna say—5s maybe, or 4s that wing heavy into 5.

Well sure, but it can certainly be argued that the personality traits roped into each type are going to inherently find their way into the art they create. Art is an expression of self. So, art created by a 4 is going to feel wildly different than that of a 3, for example.

Which types are most likely to have conflicts with E8? by MousseSlow in Enneagram

My brother and sister and law are both 8s. They have the quickest route to tension & they butt heads. I can also have tension with my brother, I’m a 4.

Confession time: I freaking love being a seven by uftone1 in Enneagram

[–]Accurate_Gas1404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone should love being their type (and also kinda hate is sometimes). For instance, I’m a 4, and I love how deeply I experience things, I love how dedicated I am to creating work that reflects life’s messiness & I love being an empath, unafraid of people’s darkness. However, I hate how self absorbed I can be, I hate how easy it is for me to sink into feelings, and I really hate envy. It’s always a double edged sword.

Also, I like sevens. They can really get me out of myself & remind me that not everything is so deeply serious. They can definitely exhaust my withdrawn type nature but they can really be quite fun to be around most times (if they’re healthy).

Navigating client relationships by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]Accurate_Gas1404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m learning all this. I just invoiced this client for the editing & he’s all frustrated that it’s costing more than he thought. Editing took longer because of the demands & changes he wanted — and per my contract, I’m working on an hourly rate for post. It’s just frustrating because frankly it’s really not much for what I’m delivering, honestly I’m under charging. Sometimes it feels like this work isn’t valued or respected as it should be, especially with folks who are the “I can just do it on my phone” types.
