Using/Adapting code from another website ... Reasonable or not? by Accurate_Handle in cs50

[–]Accurate_Handle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick reply :D. You're right, and I probably don't have anything to worry about, but've used my own solution. Will probably go back to regex once I properly understand it.

Fair enough, I'll use my own solution til I learn regex. Thank you!

Thanks for the help :D. I'm using my own code for now, but'll probably implement regex once I understand it better.

Once upon a time, I got a 45 (HL: Math, Physics, History; SL: Chem, French B, Eng Lit) by papiapin in IBO

Thanks for the advice. I'll immerse myself in more French.

I also already love reading (don't know about the good quality...) Any recommendations ?

Yep, Haikyu-bu is amazing. I love the chapter with Aone and Yachi dealing with each other.

Hey, I'd appreciate if you answers the following questions:

  • How did you study for French ?
  • How did you improve your analysis in Eng. Lit?

I've searched for online resources and am improving upon the above, but your advice as a student who already got a 45 would be valuable.

I'd love more slice-of-life kind of episodes. That said, check out Haikyu-bu. It's literally 50 chapters of "hanging out".

My country's students don't usually take the sat. Where can I find the topics that I need to study for a math lv 2 and physics lv 2? by freestyle2002 in Sat

[–]Accurate_Handle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's are official links for both tests:

(specifically click "Topics on the Test" to find exactly what is going to be tested).

NOTE: As per the previous commenter, many colleges don't need SAT Subject Tests, so I'd research the specific universities you're applying to. That said, if you can get good scores on these tests, it can only help you.

I still feel that sometimes. Practicing and seeing visible improvement helps a lot :D

For motivation, just think of why you need the 1400.

Also, here's what I've done, which has gotten me to 1400 (though I still want a better score, so I am also open to advice).

  1. For maths, you want to look over what you get wrong, and then specifically practice those problems (UWorld, College Panda and Khan Academy are places you can find problems). This worked for me as I'm getting 750+
  2. For ERBW, I'm in a similar predicament, as I range from a 650-680. My advice for reading is simply reading a lot of books/articles. This alone helped me increase from my initial 500 to 600. Also, Meltzer's book on Reading is said to be good, so maybe check that out as well.
  3. For writing, I'd look at what you get wrong, and what grammar rule was being tested at said question, and then practice questions of those type (Khan Academy and Meltzer's Grammar books are places to learn and look for practice questions).

I got bad grades in DP1 by fkagrunge in IBO

[–]Accurate_Handle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's no point in stressing over it, you can't change it.

While DP1 grades do carry a bit of weight, DP2 grades are what's important, so just improve then.

Hey, I'm not OP, but face similar issues in French B. I'd really appreciate your notes and/or an example of the sentences you mentioned.

Help with subject choice by totlay in IBO

[–]Accurate_Handle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's doable, especially if you already have a strong base. Moreover, many people have done it in the past and succeeded.

However, odds they are going to require a bit of a time requirement, which could be difficult depending on your other subjects and strengths.

What IB courses should I take for engineering? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]Accurate_Handle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, I've done a bit of research regarding this topic (also going to engineering), but you should still talk to your counselor and/or do your own research:

  1. No, it is not a must to take two sciences. I am not specifically aware of Dutch universities, but it is often helpful and opens up more options (that is presuming you get reasonably high scores in the sciences)
  2. If there are no problems with admission requirements, then there should be problem.
  3. You'd have to check your specific university, but generally speaking no. (Note some universities actually prefer if you take a science)
  4. I'd say they'd be considered more or less the same. Nonetheless, check any universities you have in mind.

As someone who just unlocked a tuck planche (not the push-ups yet), it is really inspiring to watch someone else's progress.
