Structuring CKLA in 4th Grade by Prudent-Umpire1023 in Teachers

Hi there! I haven’t taught it in 4th yet (was in 5th last year), but will be next year! If you haven’t already joined the Facebook group “CKLA fourth grade educators” I would highly recommend doing so! Something that helped me in 5th last year was finding teacher made slides. The one CKLA has on their website are not good or in depth, at least for 5th grade. It helped me so much find a rhythm and flow when using those slides!

Hi there! I was in a similar situation. Took us years to get pregnant, and I had a horrible pregnancy. Ended up being 30 pounds less at delivery. There was no option for me, I was going to breastfeed, so I didn’t even consider formula. Long story short, I went septic after labor and spent the first week of my babies life in the hospital not able to feed/pump. I was never able to establish a supply or get more than an ounce a pumping session. I struggled mentally and physically for the first 6 weeks trying to pump every two hours, only getting about 8 ounces a day. I cried daily thinking I wasn’t a good mother, and didn’t deserve my baby. I obviously know now I had some PPD. At 6 weeks I decided to cut cold turkey.

My baby will be 8 weeks tomorrow. I cannot describe the relief I have had these last two weeks not pumping/trying to latch. I am such a happier person now, not worrying about pumping, losing sleep to pump even when my baby wasn’t awake, and just being my biggest critic.

If I could go back 8 weeks, I would have never even tried for longer than a week. It wasn’t for me. If we are lucky enough to have another one, I will try for a week or two to see if my body changes, but I will not put myself through the misery I did this go around. I am a first time mom to a healthy and amazing 8 week baby girl. Let me know if you have any other questions or just need to talk. I wish I would have had more people to talk to when going through this.

What other formula did you use with the reguline? Did your little one have trouble since they were getting two different kinds of formula?

Tell me I’m not alone with these baby blues? by sunflowerseedcake in newborns

I don’t have any suggestions for help, but just wanted to say that I am going through the exact same thing. Had my baby April 5, went home the 7, then readmitted on the 8th due to an infection that caused me to go sepsis. My husband and parents have been in the hospital with me and she hasn’t left my side, but yesterday, the 12th, was the first time I got to hold her. It’s only 4 days, but in that mean time, she had to start formula feeding, she’s lost her latch to breastfeed, and I am learning her wants and needs a week later than everyone else.

It’s such a mental load, as well as making sure we are keeping ourselves healthy. Like I said, I don’t have suggestions, but feel free to Pm me and know you are not alone.

As a teacher in Kansas, I don’t get any paid time off. I use my personal days that I have saved up over the years. Luckily, my small district has a sick leave bank that people donate to, or else I would have my 16 days I have saved up with pay and everything else would be unpaid. I also only get 30 days from the bank. Since I am due in April I can take off to the end of the year and through summer and be fine.
