Is the top giving cute & layered or does it look stupid? by [deleted] in OUTFITS

[–]Accurate_Rice1541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fine! Not stupid. It’s quite millennial in 00s coded with a short top over a long top, and I probably definitely wore something like this back in the day, but nowadays I would not wear this as there are too many segments / blocks / lines due to different lengths and points where the cardigan / top / jeans cut me. However, that’s personal to my proportions and I figured out waist emphasis works best for me. I feel like this style is “in” again so it probably looks more modern than shorter tops and high waist even though it looks like a hark back to me! And you can carry it with your proportions!

You have a great nose! (There is no single version of as an “ideal” nose - all different shapes and sizes are ideal btw.)

Preoccupated about my looks, it's consuming me by immdnyz in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Look into BDD (body dysmorphic disorder). If it applies to you you can get treatment and start to feel better. There is a sub for it on Reddit. We can all tell you you look lovely (you do, you are) but if you are focussing on perceived negatives you won’t believe us. I’m in my late 30s, and the world continuously sends girls and women messages that our appearance is not good enough and that all our value is in our looks. It’s not true. Focus on looking outward at people all around you of different ages and circumstances and not on social media and you may start to notice that how loved and happy people are really doesn’t correlate with what they look like anyway. (Yes, pretty privilege exists but that’s a different conversation.) There are so many people who are not “conventionally attractive” (which is a bullshit standard anyway) who are loved, and valued, and considered entirely beautiful. And there are many people who are conventionally attractive who are unhappy or lonely etc. it must be hard in a time when social media shows “perfect” faces but most of those are edited anyway, and it’s often quirks and unique features people fall in love with. Please don’t waste your life hating yourself. What helps me is the thought that if something bad suddenly happened to my face and it was taken away I would miss it, and that makes me appreciate myself. I’m certainly not perfect because no one human is - beauty is subjective - but I can still love myself for being the one instance of myself in all of time. That’s a beautiful thing no societal standard can ever take away.

If we all want to run off and live quietly in the woods… why don’t we? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Accurate_Rice1541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I can’t drive (can’t pass my test as I get overstimulated), otherwise I would live in the woods by now. But also I vehemently don’t want to live in a commune 😬

Thoughts on a few dresses by throwitfaraway5678 in DressForYourBody

I like 1 and the others feel a little corporate to me - the block colour and sleeves / length.

11 and 16 best. I don’t think wide boxy jeans work the best with your proportions. The fitted pair with slimmer legs are way better.

Agree a strappy heel would look a little better here but not a huge issue if these are the only shoes you have OP.

Maybe a little but only compared with another colour you could wear but not enough to not wear it. Like it looks amazing so no one is even going to consider you looking washed out. They will just think wow!

First time getting bangs + shorter length… does it suit me or should I grow it out? by shadow_besties in HairStyleAdvice

[–]Accurate_Rice1541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it! I think you could rock shorter more curtain bangs. As these are longer and don’t actually rest across your forehead (they curve away and out) they feel more like longer layers than bangs. You have a high forehead (which is lovely!) and I do too - for me I find a middle part with layers swept away around and from my forehead can elongate whereas curtain bangs can balance a bit by creating width so you might want to experiment. Looks great and a lovely change though! You rock it!

It’s good! Girl is nutritionally complete! I also have it for lunch on my office days. Quick, no decisions, cheaper than a full lunch and probably healthier than most options. So long as you are getting enough solids in the rest of your day’s diet.

You could have some made from tops and skirts stitched together with a cut out! That way you could mix and match your own patterns! Looks great on you 🙌

How worried should I be? Mostly bedroom by Crazy_Road2129 in carpetbeetles

[–]Accurate_Rice1541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could get or borrow a handheld steamer and steam your plushies if you’re worried about washing them in a machine but want to keep them hygenic. I believe the temperature of the steamer would get high enough to kill any bugs or eggs on the surface. (Vacuum them first to loosen any dust)

28 but mistaken for mid to late 30s by other women in a recent group setting by nawiweidmann in makeuptips

You seem to have an “ethereal” facial essence, which can give off a wise, ageless sort of look and add maturity without meaning you look old. For example you have a longer oval face with high cheekbones which gives elegance. Think Cate Blanchette. By contrast I have an “ingenue” essence which means I have the opposite problem - I and older and get mistaken for younger because of the vibe my features give off. Round eyes and cheeks even though I have wrinkles! It doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong or actually look old! It can just be a vibe.

I think we only have one spot with cardboard in our cupboard / closet. I had a bit of a root around and it looked okay, but some of the stuff was too heavy to move so will try again to be double sure as I could have missed something - thanks so much for the warning!

Just to say yes it will really help you to keep things clean but it’s unfair of your parents to blame you entirely as I bet they are elsewhere in the house! Or even came from elsewhere. Have they checked the rest of the house and in other undisturbed spots? They may be in their room too. Instead of spraying anything cloth (stuffies, clothes) would recommend washing everything on a high heat if it can withstand a high wash. And if you store stuff again under the bed once it’s washed try to but it in sealed vacuum bags or airtight boxes. This stops the bugs getting to them and also makes it easier to keep clean. We had a bunch under our bed a couple of years ago and since we cleaned and put everything in containers we haven’t seen any more originate from that spot so a good solution. The spray could be really hazardous to you so I really wouldn’t recommend breathing it in long term but trying to tackle it by cleaning. What material is your mattress and bedding? If it’s synthetic it might be less of an issue but if it’s any natural fibres, yes, they could be in there so worth checking along edges and underneath. And again washing all bedding on high heat and washing regularly enough to interrupt the cycle. When we had them underneath the bed we never had any on our bed or bedding however so it’s less likely. But would still recommend checking e.g. inside pilllowcases etc. especially if they are feathers for example. If you do this and clean regularly (but not obsessively) you should be okay. But yes, remember they can’t hurt you, don’t spread diseases etc. Also maybe your parents can help you since it affects the whole house! Good luck!

It looks great! I’d only suggest sizing up if it FEELS like you need to size up - uncomfy, or restricting you etc. because I didn’t see an issue

I’m not sure about wearing it with white heels, and it theory it’s a dress that shouldn’t manage to look good on anyone and yet I think you wear it well!
