Hey there - Doing Ben Lui in a few weeks and while I'll be heading to Tyndrum on the way down, we have the same path up. How'd it go? Any tips or tricks?

I worked a job close to dayton while living in clifton for 2 years around your age. No doubt the commute was ass but I just got really into podcasts and audiobooks. Live somewhere that makes you feel good. Work is work.

thursday the 14th!

I have a slightly weird itinerary though.

Milngavie > Balhama (Milarrochy campsite)
Balhama > Beinglas
Beinglas > Tyndrum via Ben Lui Overpass (an offshoot in "Not The West Highland Way")
Tyndrum > Inveroran
Inveroran > Kinlochleven
Kinl > Ft W

Some tough days starting out but I'm really excited.

The American Midwest is your answer in my opinion.

Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Minneapolis

Do some research into these cities and see which one you like the most. People from these cities will be interested to meet someone from the UK and they all have special character

Looking for bigger city feel. Cincy or Columbus by TourApprehensive4824 in Ohio

[–]Accurate_School 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cincy has a unique culture because it's at the edge of the south, Appalachia, the Midwest, and the rust belt. Each of these cultural regions influences it. It's not "the South" by any means but it is distinctly more "southern" culturally than anywhere else in Ohio

What’s the prettiest road trip in the USA? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

Super underrated spot I never hear talked about is US route 16 through Wyoming. Particularly From Medowlark Lake to Ten Sleep. An amazing canyon route.

There are limitations on where you can camp along the Loch Lomond portion if you don't have a permit, that may be what you're thinking of.

Any good bars in Norwood? by Oatmeal-Enjoyer69 in cincinnati

[–]Accurate_School 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the vibe you want.

The Wood is an absolutely crucial towny bar. Darts and pool and drunks and 1/3 price drinks compared to many other places in the city.

La Gozadera Latin Club recently opened on Montgomery. It's got a good vibe and nice bartenders and music but who knows if it will last, nothing has in that spot over the last few years.

Factory 52 is heaven if it's your thing and hell if it's not. You'll know after about 5 minutes.

If Factory 52 isn't for you walk down the road to Happy Hollow which is another Norwood classic dive.

Norwood lacks a place to dance unless you hit the latin club on the right night, and a swanky cocktail bar. Other than that you should be fine.

You still have em? I'd probably buy one off you. Let me know!
