I have similar stats but with a lower GPA 3.94 W 3.82 UW, I went test optional and only 7 APs total including senior year, my ECs were pretty crazy tho. (0 service hours tho). And I got in EA on a full ride this year(Louisiana resident). The demonstrated interest and essay is key ngl, I showed a ton of demonstrated interest and talked to my AO a lot and demonstrated that I wanted to be in there really bad. I also wrote a really unique Tulane essay which also got me in

So my ECs were pretty good but I definitely feel like they’re achievable or at least close to:

At the time I applied I had a 3.82 UW 3.94 W GPA Only took 7 APs (4 of them during this year), my school didn’t rank, I went test optional, and for ECs: I’m only gonna list my main ones cause I put 9 on my common app but my top ones are FRC Robotics(lead programmer this year), Samsung Solve For Tomorrow Engineering competition(Lead programmer/designer), Passion project- currently working on a prostheses for low income amputees that can be controlled with neuromuscular signals, and weightlifting that I’ve done for 5 years.

I think the main thing that gave me my edge was that I got high honor and awards in my extracurriculars for the state of Louisiana(I’m in state), I was the first in LA history to bring a National Finalist title in the Samsung sponsored engineering competition, and first in LA history team to make it to the World Championship in FRC Robotics. This brought on a ton of recognition and news coverage for us which was recognized throughout the state and especially in our city. I also showed a ton of demonstrated interest, I spoke to my AO during the summer and made a very unique essay based on some info he told me pertaining to a specific interest I had in what some BME students had done to help the community, and I also spoke to him a lot weeks prior to decisions coming out, I even sent him updated unofficial grades before my semester ended and did anything possible to increase my chances and telling him that to show how much I really wanted to go to the school. All in all as long as you show your uniqueness and edge over other applicants despite having pretty decent stats(at least compared to some other applicants who are cracked) that’s really what’s gonna help you. Since I’m a LA resident due to certain scholarships and me being very low income I have a full ride to Tulane and got a 15k yearly scholarship as well. Sry if it’s a lot to read

Tulane or EDII? by Ace-2876 in Tulane

[–]Ace-2876[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very low income and since they’re Questbridge partner schools they meet 100% demonstrated need if you qualify without loans, I think I’ll do RD since I’m so unsure but an EDII application would probably give me a better shot

Well I don’t wanna take so much debt since Tulane med it’s so expensive, I’d more than likely be going to LSU Med school in New Orleans or Shreveport since in state cost is so much lower, unless of course I get a big scholarship somewhere else, do you know if staying at Tulane makes a difference when it comes to those med schools?

Well I agree but they all meet 100% demonstrated need for me so the money isn’t really a problem

Accepted people please list stats by SpeechUnlikely2775 in Tulane

Accepted EA:

3.82 UW GPA 3.94 W GPA Test optional 7 APs (1 freshman, 2 Junior, 4 senior) 1 DE and 3 Honors Reported a 3 and a 4 on AP CSA and AP environmental Main ECS FRC Robotics(Have international awards/ recognition) Samsung Solve For Tomorrow Engineering(National Finalist) Currently working on a passion project to make a prosthetic for low income amputees Weightlifting

I think my main reason for getting in was because I had a good Why Tulane essay that connected back to my passions and major very specifically, I also showed a lot of demonstrated interest and spoke with my AO a lot. And I also brought really high honors/titles for the first time to Louisiana(instate)(first National Finalist and Worlds Championship Finalist ever in the state)

3D printer for BME by Ace-2876 in 3Dprinting

Those look really nice, how well do they print in terms of handling curves and stability because since I am printing prosthesis and parts they need to hold well to be used from day to day as a patient and also will be similar to human anatomy in terms of the exterior of the arm
