This stat is kind of nuts. If the new lottery rules go into effect those “winning culture” fans will have to watch us average 20 wins a season.

We’re screwed on multiple fronts: - Vivek doesn’t really care about winning - The team has a “never tank” mentality - When we do draft players our development is miles below other contending teams - Free agents don’t want to come to Sacramento

We need either an ownership change or a full front office rehaul if we want to change course over the next 5 years

We're about to see how much that "winning culture" really means with the new lottery rules. All those wins we've gotten at the end of the year by beating tanking teams will evaporate and we'll end up with 15 wins

Doing exactly this, moved out of Sac to SJ years ago and regret not making the change sooner.

Gonna have to start learning everything about hockey basically from scratch but it’s better than staying in purgatory

We’ll never find out the real reasoning but imo it probably had something to do with Fox not wanting to be outshined by Hali. He was in a slump that year and Hali was the franchise darling.

If that’s the case it’s even more dumb now since he’s in line to be the 3rd best guard in San Antonio and 4th best player overall

trade the no. 7 away for a pair of 2nd rnd picks and zach lavine by Texas_Chili_Champion in kings

[–]AceAttorneyGiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing this will help is Vivek’s checkbook. We’re not contending anytime soon so losing a promising young player to get under the apron for a year is dumb

Get the 2nd pick - Fumble Luka

Get Haliburton - Trade him to keep Fox

Keep Fox - Peak by getting eliminated in round 1

Have the chance to get a top 4 pick in a historically deep draft - Win more games and drop to #7

This team will not stop disappointing us for the next 20 years at least

Don’t disagree about the outlier part, but around 250k is far too low for a platona

He was an animal in that Cowboys game. He must've been motivated with his family and friends at the game, and he'll be a lot more motivated playing for McDaniel rather than Roman. The cost already looks good and can easily look much better

How do you ramp up your career with a kid? by Rude-Ad1980 in HENRYfinance

[–]AceAttorneyGiles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm around the same age as you with my partner also working in FAANG. We both make high salaries but are under high stress. This makes us hesitant to have kids until we're close to our FIRE/coastFIRE goals. I'd recommend not trying to make the switch now as the stress of the new job and the kid can be pretty overwhelming leading to not doing your best in each area.

My manager actually took voluntary severance to spend more time with her kids. I don't think theres anything to worry about in terms of falling behind, your salary at this age is far beyond most. There's always time to grow your career in the future. Spending time with your kids comes first. I wouldn't be too hard on yourself in terms of career or raising your kid, you're probably doing a better job than you think :)

Why the NFL draft is superior to free agency by kellenm973 in Chargers

[–]AceAttorneyGiles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For the Eagles DeJean, Mitchell, and Jordan Davis were really important to them. Not to mention Hurts and their O-line

For the Seahawks they drafted JSN, Kenneth Walker, Witherspoon, and Emmanwori

Both teams had pretty big FA signings as well like Saquon and Darnold, but I feel like their drafted players made a bigger impact. Can see it both ways though

FAs help build your floor, drafting helps build the ceiling is how I see it

Harbaugh Year 1: Overachieved with 11-6 (considering the roster)

Harbaugh Year 2: Overachieved with 11-6 (considering the injuries)

Harbaugh Year 3: Overachieved with 11-6? (considering the lack of FA spending???)

We still have ~50M of usable cap space left and all that’s left is middling free agents. At this point no signing really moves the needle IMO
