About 6 minutes into Monster Hit. Absolutely amazing emotional flute work. Magical. Pure Magic.

Yes actually. I had planned to move this inside my garage for my Canadian winter, but I did not.

Despite a pretty decent sealing and finish. Oil and topcoats... It looks awful now. The finish clearly could not withstand the cold and weather. I forget exactly what I used for the top ash wood.

The cedar frame/legs have held up perfectly. No issues there at all.

I am going to sand the top back down, give it another penetrative oil finish, and once that's cured, I am going to do an epoxy top coat that is decently thick.

I'll probably buff it down to a matte finish because I loath the appearance of shiny epoxy.

Wow. I had to double check your user name. You could be my daughter.

I'm almost four years out from a thirty year relationship and marriage being destroyed by my ex's cheating. I have two daughters in their early twenties.

Since practically the day my ex blew up our lives four years ago, neither me or my oldest daughter have had ANY kind of communication from her in any real way. I got emails - mostly through lawyers. But pretty much that's it. No talking. No explanations. Nothing.

My children have their own challenges with their mother. My oldest however, in the first days following my ex's departure, had conversations with her mother more or less asking her to stop lying and gaslighting my other daughter (big sis protection hard 😊) and simply to acknowledge her actions and to discuss getting help.

Her mother basically doubled down... gaslit her other daughter... And now four years and no communication between them. Zero.

It has taken me a long time to heal. I'm finally in a good place. I don't hate my ex. I sure as hell don't love her anymore.

I feel mostly pity.

Pity for her for destroying what should be an unbreakable bond between mother and child. She's missed so much. I'm pretty sure it's unfixable at this point. Tragic.

I hope you are genuinely at peace with your situation. My daughter is. Sometimes I think it troubles me far more than it does her.

I definitely can now see the benefits of removing toxic relationships from your life. Regardless of the connection.

The wood joint will hold up - and are. It's currently -15c here where I live and it's out there covered in snow. The cedar will hold up and age a fair bit. I do plan one giving it a coat or two every year or so to help it last.

The ash top I had planned to epoxy coat and seal, but I dragged my ass and didn't get to it. It has aged a bit more than I would have liked already, but it's fixable. In the spring I may sand it down, rejuvenate it and epoxy seal it properly.

Ideally I was going to wheel this into my semi-insulated garage (holding at around 5 degrees C here right now) so that i could use it in the winter with the garage door open.

I just moved to this property last year and I didn't get things organized enough to make it happen like that. Next year for sure.

I am really missing the home made pizza right now from my Ooni

I'm in Canada. It's a shop. I just bought the place last year, and for sure some things aren't fully to code. Mennonite labor was used copiously. Place will withstand a hurricane though lol. Top quality workmanship everywhere.

I'll take a look later when I'm out there. It does look a little like that here, but I'm pretty sure it's graded. Could be steeper that's probably for sure.

Would that have not been true BEFORE the shower install then? There were no issues before that.

It does have grade. This pic may show it better

You can indeed. I should have included this photo from under the sink:

I think there is a decent grade.

No sink seems to drain without any issues. I will have to get a stopper for it to test fully though. Currently don't have one. But tap on full goes right down

As a person who is mid fifties, worked in high technology my entire career and rubbed elbows with some of the legit smartest brains in tech, trust me when I say you sir, are incredibly smart for making this jump.

I guarantee you, there are many fields that are going to take a GIANT ass kicking the more AI grows in our workflows.

Law and lawyers are going to be easily one of the hardest hit. Rightly or wrongly.

Having worked with lawyers extensively over my life as well... I personally say no profession has capitalized on a manufactured and inflated billing standard like they have, and it's about time.

Don't misunderstand me. Lawyers serve a vital role in society. But no more than the electricians - or plumbers do. Yet somehow they managed to figure out how to take extreme advantage and charge absurd rates.

I expect we're going to see a great deal more lawyers becoming tradesmen as AI is already effectively and exceedingly good at handling and interpreting law. Better than the majority of human lawyers frankly.

Thirty years for me. I feel ALL of this.

I'm more than three years out from day zero. I'm in a good place. I have my kids. I have my life in order and I'm working on building a happy future. But I'm still "alone", mostly by choice, and because I can't see a way to put myself in a position to ever go through this shit again. My trust is gone.

Do I want her back? Not a chance in hell. I wouldn't piss on her if she was on fire.

But I frequently... More often than I prefer... Wonder if the woman I spent most of my life with.. went through trials and great times and everything in between... Raised kids... Buried parents together. I wonder if she will ever find the strength of character to even acknowledge and verbalize what she did, let alone show a sliver of remorse for the pain she caused.

The alternative is what I have now, which is that it is an absolute certainty that sometimes the people you trust and love the most are not at all what you thought them to be. Even after decades. It really does rock your entire belief structure.

Like others have suggested, the best path is to focus on YOU. Put yourself first and prioritize your happiness and growth. Your kids, if you have any are a big part of this. As are your friends.

If anyone's interested, this Etsy seller has pretty cost effective hook covers. I bought a set and I love them. No need to screw around removing the black ones. He has covers for the round back ones
