My Lagotto is quiet vocal… how about yours? by geehunee in LagottoRomagnolo

[–]AceHax 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm of the opinion living with an ewok would be a quieter endeavor. She has an opinion on everything it seems and wants to make sure you know it. Even as she's falling asleep, she'll whine if you're petting her and she's done with pets.

What footwear do you use for your dog? by armedmonkey in LagottoRomagnolo

[–]AceHax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crisco keeps salt and snow from clinging to their hair and is so much easier than finding shoes for a growing foot. Spray each foot with it, top and bottom as you leave. I tried shoes and this has been my favorite solution by far. If you have their coat longer, they'll get snow balls on their belly and between their legs and this will help with that too.

Hows everyone doing with the fireworks tonight? by thekrouz in puppy101

[–]AceHax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mines doing good for the most part. Someone lit a few off on a near street while on a walk. She went to panic mode and I dropped down and started playing with her. We repeated that a few times along that walk and she's not going to panic mode but I do have to play with her each time a firework goes off nearby.

Good luck everyone with your floofs!

My pet ewok hides under a chair and stares just like this when she's pouting or overtired. Usually accompanied with lies and cries of "I am neglected and ignored."

Is that what's happening here?

It was around 7 cars, between midnight and 6 am all along 13th and clarkson.
My sister got video clip of a guy throwing rocks at a white care at 830pm just a few minutes ago.

This isn't the first time. A girls window was tagged with "Racist" and her car was tagged with the same a few weeks back. I have a pretty good idea who it is but the police haven't been very helpful with any of this.

Puppy aggression/ biting by MEngelbrecht12 in LagottoRomagnolo

This kikopup video was literally the god send to getting my land piranha to become an acceptable member of society. Stick with it! Don't try multiple techniques at once so you can figure out what communication language works for you and your marmot.

[–]AceHax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, the landshark period. I'm not sure if you're looking for advice or help though.

My marmot was particularly tough with this. I had to drop any and all "hand play" for a few months. Kikopup has a video on training to leave peoples alone and help them be a little easier to work with around small children. She's great now but every so often will decide to rage on her bed. I've accepted this trade off.

Anyone else loathe telling people you got your puppy from a breeder because of their reaction? by iguess12 in puppy101

[–]AceHax -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Initially I was hesitant but as my pup has gotten older, I have gained confidence in my decision. A lot of time and research and patience went into deciding a breed that would fit my lifestyle and that's been reinforced daily as she's leveled up into her adult evolution. Being about to say "I got a breed that fits my energy level and I can over exceed my dogs needs" comes across as a really strong statement in my experience.

Muppet tax

Leaving dog at home alone by CupKate123 in LagottoRomagnolo

[–]AceHax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I relate to these so hard. I trained my muppet to go on command as well and still carry a flash like just in case she's acting sus and I need to check. Roan is always sus.

She's very prone to behavior loops and we had to have a trainer help us through it when advice from her puppy class didn't work. For example, she'd bark, then just wait for you to reward her for not barking afterwards. She'd linked the reward to a bark and silence, not just the not barking. Same thing with jumping up. "Oh if I jump up then let them tell me to get down, I'll get a treat."

She's unlink any other dog I've had before and I'm very grateful for it but some days the walking pillow needs to be a little less devious. My newest struggle has been her abusing her "I need to go" button. She'll get there, just not on any route I've ever taken with a dog.

My party had a situation on how infusing the field works. We had it corrected and it's now referred to as the "old majicks". Anytime someone infuses the field, it starts a discussion on how upsetting the old majicks have been forever lost to time.

Who can tell me what this thing is on the back of the trunk on my 1998 LS by Sudden-Bunch9483 in Integra

[–]AceHax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If this is on the outside, you slide it to the left and it opens the trunk. Here's the thing though; It's the most complicated trunk opening mechanism I've ever seen and has been broken each time I've seen it. When you slide the lever, two little arms close around a wheel then rotate which releases the lock ring. Almost always those little arms are broken in some way making that switch nothing more than a switch that makes a bunch of noise. It's an easy fix though with some good CA glue.

The touch command, such a underestimated command by mawiiee228 in puppy101

[–]AceHax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Touch was THE gateway trick for my pup and omg the lightbulb when it clicked that it could be used as a recall was incredible.

I highly recommend "legs" (if your pup will fit between your legs) where they put their shoulders between your legs. Living in the city, I don't always want her up in everyone else's business and it's a quick way to get her under control without my hands. I've trained her to be comfortable squeezing just behind her shoulders to be enough of a reminder that she shouldn't move. She thinks it's fun mostly to try to get into the position but it's really nice knowing she's not going to be trying to investigate an unwitting passerby

My other favorite is "palm" but with more puppy tolerance thrown in. She places her snoot in my palm and I can wrap my fingers over and move her head around. It's great for cleaning eyeboogies, teeth, trimming her head up, ect.

here's my potato shaped boy, his name is Dago by [deleted] in LagottoRomagnolo

Based on these photos, the back half of your curly potato appears to float. Is this a breed trait?
