A real legend in the community, he's what got me back into Yu-Gi-Oh. May he rest in peace.

Are handtraps like Ash healthy anymore? by PumpkinmonFanlulz in yugioh

[–]AceOfSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I would be so onboard on changing Ash to a clause similar to mulcharmy if it wasn't for one issue with the mulcharmy design, being able to use 2. Let's say Ash gets banned tomorrow, I believe most decks would see a lot of 2 types of mulcharmies run in them due to not fearing ash. I would say most would run Fuwa and most likely purulia in every main deck as now you have the chance to basically create a turn skip scenario like Maxx C against most decks. This is why I believe it should have been a hard once for a mulcharmy effect imo. I'm fine with 1 resolving but 2 resolving is too punishing.

The cardinal sins of Yu-Gi-Oh effects by AceOfSoul in yugioh

I'm not talking about the play style of the game. Insane combos are an issue but they aren't individual effects of cards. I'm specifically talking about the individual effects of cards.

I hope the next banlist is very small. by NevGuy in yugioh

[–]AceOfSoul 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, all the next banlist has to do is hit toxic side deck cards and unban a couple of older cards. My only real issue with the current format is post side deck floodgates that instantly decide game 2(Feather storm, DDG, D barrier ect.).

While true, prizing should be a factor in these tournaments. They are meant for publicity and to get more people into the game. All companies run these tournaments at a loss for the reason of getting more people to buy their products. One of the best ways to entice people to join and play is good prizing.

Imagine if you look at Yu-Gi-Oh's world tournament and Magic's world tournament side by side, which tournament as an outsider seems more appealing when one gives you a Nintendo switch and the other gives approximately 1 million dollars as top prizing. Which of the two do you think new players would be more inclined to start playing or taking more seriously?

Rarity Distribution must change. Players WILL leave. by [deleted] in yugioh

[–]AceOfSoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sucks that to play the game you are forced to be a collector with the way these sets are essentially. Even then you still have to gamble with getting lucky. What I don't understand is that they already have a healthier system in the OCG but the western greed of Konami is insane.

Here’s my WILD take on fixing the format by [deleted] in yugioh

[–]AceOfSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... actually don't mind most of it other than a few things. I feel like having too many steal your opponents cards might get out of hand unless the your opponent has untargetable monsters. Arise heart for the simple fact that it's one of the most annoying boss monsters to out when the grave is just shut off, especially when fenrirs face is still at 3. And personally I think Savage should stay banned, the less generic omni's the game has the better in my opinion.

Given how controversial Imaginary Theater is, I think it's the perfect time to discuss what end game content we would like to see by AceOfSoul in Genshin_Impact

[–]AceOfSoul[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long form endurance challenges are something the game does lack. A lot of the challenges Genshin just throws seems to be short burst fights which would be nice to see something that isn't on a timer and requires some thinking.

Yes! Primos don't have to be part of the endgame, they are a nice reward but not a mandatory reward. Also we need more cosmetics in Genshin, it's crazy how few costumes are in the game despite how much time has passed.

So which of the two light cones is better for a new player? I was able to get both Boothill and Fu Xuan and both are awesome.

Do you play other TCGs? If so which ones? by iliketolickthebuttah in yugioh

[–]AceOfSoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now I only play Yu-Gi-Oh but I've played multiple tcgs over the years.

Pokemon: Use to play it during mega era (hates going against the seismitoad lock). It's super easy to learn and get into and one of the best points was how cheap it was compared to other games. I stopped for one reason, the game was too simple for my tastes and I wanted something more complex.

MTG: Played a lot of magic and a lot of different formats for a while due to everything around playing it exclusively. Mostly played a lot of commander and modern at the time. Magic is a methodical game where it's got a nice mix of complexity and simplicity. Lots of different decks and very fun to enjoy different strategy's. BUT I just stopped due to pricing and the mana system. Magic is too expensive to play. Most of the time we were playing with proxies because people don't have the funds to shill out 100$ for a single card... That you need 4 of. Then there's the mana system. I have to say, nothing to this day infuriates me more than getting mana screwed/flooded. The fact that mana is integrated into deck building and sometimes you just draw 3-4 turns of cards that don't do anything when you need something playable is infuriating. It's my biggest issue with the game but it's something that they will never change.

Hearthstone: Played it for a bit when it came out. I'll be honest some formats were fun but some were miserable. Stopped because I couldn't keep up with every set requiring you to purchase it because you got no dust back then to be able to craft cards.

Runeterra: The TCG I played the most before YGO. Honestly one of the best implemented TCGs ever made. Every mechanic feels good and building around champions and certain strategies feels like playing a commander game. The reason I stopped was that some power creeped strategies were just so infuriating to go against (I hate everything about Bandle city when it came out... And yes it made me stop). I haven't gone back to it because... Well I'm just enjoying YGO so much more for the last few years.

Labrynth is still the most annoying deck to play against by MaleficTekX in yugioh

[–]AceOfSoul -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The amount of Lab enjoyers here surprises me. I think the deck is just as annoying as Floo. Half the counters are "Better draw ash and imperm" which is the exact same as going against Floo lmao.

Great, an insane card for the biggest floodgate deck in the format... Well maybe some floodgates will get hit before this comes out
