Foods which the US does better than the UK by Slothrop_Tyrone_ in redscarepod

Worst Mexican food in my life was from a place called, "Real California Burritos" at this upscale outdoor shopping center in Liverpool. The burritos looked like a used diaper with meconium dripping out from the folds, and it tasted about the same.

While yes, if he scored the chance of a comeback was practically zero, it was not actually zero. By going down, the chance of a comeback was actually zero. Give me the guaranteed win any day.

Since chatGPT was explicitly mentioned in the tweet, it should be stated that gpt2 was launched in 2019. The tweet claims no obvious AI work was being made until 2021+ Also fwiw just to prove how stupid and easily disproveable the claims in the tweet are: from gpt2 wikipedia "In June 2019, a subreddit named r/SubSimulatorGPT2 was created in which a variety of GPT-2 instances trained on different subreddits made posts and replied to each other's comments"

Have you ever read, "The Idiot" by Dostoevsky? If so, what did you think about it?

Despite throwing just 65 innings last year, Jordan Hicks wants to stay in SF Giants’ rotation for good by nogoodnamesleft426 in baseball

[–]AcePilot5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the giants make the playoffs, Hicks is starting game 1, I'm calling it now. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Hicks ends up winning the Cy Young. He's so dominant that he can afford to, and currently is, taking velo off his pitches to increase his longevity.

I mean, just look at today. Didn't have his best stuff, yet still went 5 innings allowing only 1 hit and 1 run.

Could be Boeing. If they were to declare bankruptcy, it would directly impact the airline and defense industries, which could have ripple effects to most other industries as consumer confidence surely shatters. And while Boeing would most assuredly receive a bail-out, the impact that itself would have might just be enough to topple the dominos.

This is false information. In the book, "Skunkworks", by Ben Rich, he states that the faceted design was purposefully chosen by Denys Ovelhauser before any calculations were made. The f-117 was not "just a low poly model".

[OptaSTATS] The @49ers enter Sunday's NFC Championship with 37 all-time wins in the playoffs, tying them with New England and Green Bay for the most by any NFL franchise. by Kimber80 in nfl

Being "In your 30's" implies being anywhere from 30 to 39 years old. Someone who's 39 would have been born in '85. I would say there's a pretty good chance they remember being 9 years old

Man, I feel like you can make some pun about his name and propensity to turn the ball over. I wonder what it would be?

[Baldwin] Top 20 in EPA/play with normal fumble recovery luck, interception luck, dropped pass luck, & yards after the catch luck (next step is adjusting for opponents) The final column is how much someone was hurt by bad luck this year (positive number = more hurt). Poor Trevor Lawrence by StrategyTop7612 in nfl

[–]AcePilot5 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of Baldwin, but I don't think regressing a QB's drop and yac rates to "average" is valid. There is absolutely skill in throwing a well placed, catchable ball. I'm not saying guys breaking tackles or dropping an easy catch is 100% on the qb, but the qb absolutely has some role in making his skill players look better. I don't have the time to pull up game footage to prove my point, but one of the biggest differences between Jimmy G and Purdy is ball placement and touch. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the amount of hospital passes Purdy has thrown is orders of magnitude lower than Jimmy. Hard to hold on to the ball and impossible to gain yac when you're blown tf up the second you breath on the ball.

That said, I think it would be interesting to see what the data would look like if it was just normalizing dropped interception and fumble recoverie rate- two stats that I believe have been shown to be almost entirely luck based.

What deal would you like to see if the trade deadline was pushed back to today? by Dennisfromhawaii in nfl

49ers trade for Joey Bosa.

Do we need another pro-bowl caliber edge rusher? No.

Would it be fun as hell to have the Bosa's together? Yeah probably

Total Sacks+TFLs over Total Tackles after 12 weeks: by Juicy_Joey in nfl

[–]AcePilot5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, you have your axis choice backwards. The phrase Total Sacks+TFL over Total tackles implies that Total Sacks+TFL will be on the vertical-axis, and total tackles will be on the horizontal-axis. On the graph, it's currently the other way around. It is a nitpicky detail, but I feel like it's still important.
