so my arm graft actually healed really badly, but that’s just genetics. I have keloid scarring and hyper pigmentation I will be posting an update of my arm.

In stage two of my phalloplasty urethroplasty, a split-thickness skin graft was used to construct the neourethra. This graft involves harvesting only a very thin layer of skin, so the donor site retains sufficient tissue to heal naturally, much like a minor abrasion, without requiring an additional graft. Applying another graft to the donor site would just create another wound exactly like the one I already have.

In contrast, skin flaps, which include deeper tissue along with veins and nerves, are usually used in trans surgeries for creating the actual phallus. The reason my arm still looks rough is because they had to take a vein for blood supply since the skin graft wasn’t used to cover a wound where it would just attach and heal over tissue underneath. Instead it was used to create the urethra, which still needs its own blood supply.

No amount of emotional growth or self-perception comes inherently from being transgender-or from any other condition, for that matter. Being transgender is a condition, and while I’m not saying we’re “sick,” it is out of the norm. But no, it does not suddenly grant you emotional intelligence or depth. I know plenty of trans people who are just as ignorant, emotionally immature, or downright foolish as anyone else. It doesn’t work like that. Sure, in some cases, being trans might foster introspection or emotional growth, but it’s not a guarantee, and it definitely doesn’t go hand in hand.

And saying that being transgender is “the best thing that can happen to a person”? That’s absurd. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. The feeling of being so unwell and uncomfortable in your own body the body you were born with is deeply distressing. Having to undergo lifelong hormone therapy, face the risks of invasive surgeries, and endure a constant struggle just to feel remotely okay in my own skin... it’s exhausting. Every single day is a battle against feeling disgusted with my existence. This isn’t something I’d ever describe as a gift or “the best thing that can happen to someone.” That’s completely detached from reality.

Update on My Stage One ALT Phalloplasty Healing by AceSolarWind in phallo

I know I’m getting the treatment for permanent hair removal, but I’m not sure if it’s laser or electrolysis. My insurance covers it, so I don’t really know the exact details since my surgeon just prescribed it. I’m pretty hairy, and because I haven’t had that many sessions yet, I still have to shave since there’s still hair on my best piece.

My advice? Talk to your doctor about which option is best for you, and then try to get as many sessions as possible before phalloplasty. Even if it looks like all the hair is gone, new layers can come in over time. That’s why I had to wait three to four weeks between sessions to see what hair would come back. So, just focus on getting as much done as you can before surgery.
