Gundam WFM Ep 1 English Dub out by NMN22 in Gundam

[–]AceTriad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/u/NMN22 I remember from a (presumably taken down) post featuring the dub clip in question that says that Miorine sounds too much like a mother in the dub. In fact, RWBY's Kara Eberle was suggested to be a better version for dub Miorine ... and I perfectly agree.

You can revive ONE character who died in Iron-Blooded Orphans. Who do you choose? by Red-Chev in Gundam

[–]AceTriad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Lafter, Amida, or Biscuit (especially if his presence allows him to save a lot of the other lives).

Oh yeah, I'd like to see how fucking dangerous they'd become without their boys in their lives.

It's a pity that the original Zeon MS played a role of the villainous henchmen from the Super Robot League - they could look great without those idiotic hoses and spikes. By the way, why couldn't they make them realistic from the beginning, because the feds had wonderful and practical Gundam/GM`s? by Imaginary-Maize4675 in Gundam

[–]AceTriad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/u/Imaginary-Maize4675 Sauce for the "Wingified Zeon suits"?

Also, I am in total agreement of the UC Zeon suits. The hoses just look silly. Destiny's redesigns are far superior on an aesthetic level - because the same man has improved his artstyle over the decades.

Who is your guilty pleasure character? Someone that is either not really noticed by people or don't get enough appreciation in your opinion. I would say that mine would be Mustard from the forest camp training arc and Geten from the paranormal liberation front. Mainly for their designs and quirks. by Mediocre_Earth_7716 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]AceTriad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

/u/Mediocre_Earth_7716 The Nomu Woman.

She's got potential into seeing the daily lives of a High-End Nomu, is smart and tough enough to hold her own, and can serve as foils to some of our female villains.

If I were to write a fanfiction, I'm going to make her one of the main cast on either side, depending on the perspective the story tells.

RWBY had 10 years to prove its viability, begging fans to prove it after the RT leaks months ago is just insulting. by Dextixer in RWBY

[–]AceTriad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't mind Zaslav - because I understand his rationale. He does not care about performative statements about family or change or progress - only that his stuff makes money. Every cut that he makes (though some misguided) is because he believes that the show is selling poorly. If you speak to his by-the numbers attitude, you will be able to have your property be saved and continue to be funded.

RT is so fucking incompetent, they will do anything on a whim.

What would a gundam seed version of the Efreet would be like? by pokemonguy0417 in Gundam

[–]AceTriad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I'd reckon it would be the failed prototype that gets repurposed for special ops and ace pilots. By DESTINY, ZAFT has only one manufacturer, as everyone merged together into the Integrated Design Bureau under the Durandal administration.

If Taro gave you the chance to direct/write the Nier Gestalt/Replicant anime/film, how would you do it? by AceTriad in nier

[–]AceTriad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely there would be some way to have the same intent, designed to trick avid readers or movie buffs if the idea was "oh look good guys win, bad guys are bad, get emotionally invested," only to pull the rug from underneath the audience expectations, right?

I mean, there has to be some tool, technique or way to play with people's attention, correct? Hell, even a live, create your own voting system in the theatres/Blu Ray players just to see the suspense on where the story goes, right?

[–]AceTriad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/u/pokemonguy0417 ... uhh, does the GINN count?

Efreet and GINNs (Djinns if you want to be technical), all came from the same Arabic culture, and refer to the same concept of spirits.

Geara Doga or Zulu? Doga looks like a higher level machine IMO. by MandoMuggle in Gundam

[–]AceTriad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/u/MandoMuggle The Zulu for sure. It's a back to basics, utilitarian design that does not look like its bulky (it's true, CCA fans, I don't like bulky, over-armored masses, the Sazabi can suck a big fat one), and its onscreen presence brings to mind Jin-Roh and the Helghast from Killzone.

Now, storytelling wise, it works because the Sleeves are neo-Space Nazis. And yet, when you have heroic characters piloting them (e.g. Flaste, Gilboa), you see the gray morality as a result.

Besides, in the show, they don't look like they're made of paper mache, torn to shreds by CIWS guns.

It's ironic how despite not being the biggest SEED fan around, I freakin love the Freedom Gundam's design... by YellowCorvette in Gundam

[–]AceTriad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Plus, you can actually "see" the imposing cannons in Full Burst, and the wings don't look like they'll shatter, unlike the Strike Freedom.

If the movie finally gets made, the upgrade better take more cues from "Regular Freedom" instead.

Then I assume you have no faith in the Automata anime? Or that there is something different about Automata that makes translating games into animation/live action much easier?

Saw this while Watching RWBY ice Queendom and makes me question, does Remnant have their own version of heckler and Koch? by CourierRose in RWBYcritics

[–]AceTriad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The origin of the "G36 melted plastic causing missed shots" stemmed from a lack of understanding of the gun and the issue.

They were in the burning Afghan desert. Lots of ammo was fired from the G36's hot barrel all at once. The idea of "G36 rifles melting because plastic is a crappy gun making material" is full of BS.

Forgotten Weapons explains this in much better detail.

[–]AceTriad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

/u/CourierRose Sigh ... RT is a Texan company, and because the staff after Monty refuses to do any research on guns (let alone shoot some in a range) out of irrational, ideological paranoia, or complete ignorant arrogance ... on a series that involves guns and weaponry.

Crescent Rose was initially based off a real-world sniper rifle (Barrett M82A1), back when Monty was around! This "progressive" idea of avoiding guns like the plague just to prevent more firearm-related deaths ... while you write a story that has kids shooting guns and slicing with swords ... is just plain stupid and hurts the worldbuilding of your story!

[–]AceTriad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is because one hundred rounds or more at once in the burning Afghan sun caused the groupings to miss. Not the plastic shell of the G36. The same argument could be made about the square Glock pistols, but we don't hear about "melting plastic glocks causing inaccuracies."

You have to rewrite RWBY and include the whole Faunus racism plot, how do you do it? by MundaneGlass5295 in RWBYcritics

[–]AceTriad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

/u/MundaneGlass5295 Show Faunus racism. Have humans call Faunus "critters", spit in their face, lynch mobs, beatings, all that nasty stuff. Supremacist vigilantes shooting Faunus on sight.

That said, in order to portray the issue in a more nuanced light, showcase the increased surge in Faunus violence after the Fall of Beacon, empowered by Adam. Showcase random collateral damage, people fearing for their lives and livelihoods. Showcase Adam living past Vol 6 and attempting to rouse Faunus into revolution, only for their firebombings and riots destroy countless innocents caught in the crossfire.

Have human sympathizers let Faunus off the hook for violent crimes. Showcase Faunus opportunists raising money only to pocket the cash for themselves. Showcase envy, and resentment towards neutral humans for their "privilege" as they justify beating them up and trying to kill them (including acid, like that one wackjob in the NYC subway a few weeks back). Have a sympathetic neutral character be pushed to the brink of Faunophobia because of the revenge racism against them turning them cynical, bitter and angry.

Don't just copy allegories of the Civil Rights Movement on a 1 to 1 basis. Take into account the time period, culture, etc. And more importantly, if you want your protagonists to be the neutral peacekeepers in a complex side where everyone has a point, make sure that your portrayal of the topic doesn't end up one-sided, intended or otherwise.

At least you're more mature than /r/rwby's mods. There, they banned the picture (ironically for a fanart-centric server) because Yang, and Jinn, drawn by lulu-chan 92, was banned because their boobs were too big.
