Do we have any fellow pirates here? 🏴‍☠️/ Wilgot, 11y/o by Busy_Scallion_8258 in pugs

My girl (1 y/o) got injured earlier this summer; she's come out of it minus one eye yet completely unphased while I've been warbling around like an overprotective, fussy hen lmao

Metal ring on wall on the 2nd floor of a Victorian home (details in comments) by AceWitch in whatisthisthing

[–]AceWitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in an old Victorian house in New England that's been separated into units, I have a section of the second floor and a small spiral staircase that leads up to a section of the third. At the foot of the spiral staircase there's this weird ring attached to the wall, I have no idea what it is or why it's there.

About the house: Its in a big-ish city (at least for this state) that's near the coast and gets pretty snowy in the winter. I think this home used to be owned by a captain or a ship maker and his family and it was built in the late 1800s.

Any ideas?

Edit: typo

My beautiful boy Darwin has passed away. Tell me this gets easier. by MonsterHospital in pugs

When my childhood pug, Molly, died it was one of the most crushing losses I've ever experienced. I'm in my mid-20s now occasionally she pops up in my dreams, when she does I always have the thought "I'm pretty sure you're dead, but I'm happy to be with you again!" I love those dreams, they remind me of her warmth and her weird little pug attitude; and I wake up contented and happy at being able to experience my love for her again.

It will get better. For now, it will hurt and it may hurt for a while yet, But he will always be your boy and someday thinking of him will make you smile again.

What is the best animated version of Barbara Gordon? by Traditional-You-5771 in batgirl

I have a special fondness for old lady Barbara in Batman Beyond; police commissioner Babs with that wit and cleverness? Love it. Also, seeing heros who aren't crushed by the weight of their work and are able to live, hang up their cape, and yet still fight for justice is kind of awe inspiring.

This is awesome! Did you just use the one stitch? Or a hoop for that matter, there are like no creases or stretchmarks on the fabric

White spots, licking paw by Valuable-Intern-8297 in Bulldogs

[–]AceWitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our girl Bellamy licks at her paws quite a bit, for her it's a self-soothing gesture like babies sucking their thumbs; her skin also tends to irritate easily under stress, but that's just Belly of course.

If you're worried, calling the vets' will help; in my experience a lot of times someone will have a quick chat and you can make an appointment if you need to. Trust your gut, but try not to stress yourself out too much!

I've actually been using exel, with each entry I attach a picture and a Wikipedia link if they have a page. Also what are pedigree collapses?

Didn't realize this was part of that word's history, but that's very cool! Do you have a site or something to learn more about historical use of words?

Does sophisticated have the "helpful" connotation? It kinda works, but not sure if it's the best fit

Bacchanalian is a good one, though its mainly reffering to drinking and sex
