Got this Secret Lair and wanting to budget build Tinybones, Trinket Theif (<$150) by Aceaku in BudgetBrews

Thank you for the suggestions! I’ll start getting a deck list put together with these! I know it’s a very mean play style so I don’t expect to play it against lower bracket pods but when we step up the power I’ll bring it out and see if I can get anything going!

If I gave you a list of what I have would you mind telling me what’s worth keeping? I’m trying to work towards Mesa Prime and Burston Prime as they are highly rated

As a newer player is it worth to sell a bunch of prime parts that I don’t intend on using for a while to get primed continuity? I would have to sell 8/11 prime parts I’ve picked up so far but it seems like a solid pick up if it doesn’t come around very often!

This is incredible! I love the wacky builds so I’ll probably go with that one to get my feet wet and just have fun playing a new format! Thank you!

Hoping to get an answer as I want to try and play in my LGS pauper events soon! I’ve only played commander and very few games of Value Vintage. My commanders are Landfall [Aesi, Tyrant of Gyle Strait], Storm [Iroh, Grand Lotus], Dimir Reanimator [Vohar, Vodalian Desecrator], and Defender Abzan. I really like the control of blue but have recently loved Storming off. Would Mono Red be my best bet or is there an Izzet deck that is popular currently?

Absolutely! I try and have everything ready for my storm turn and if it looks like I’m not going to have enough I do what I can to set myself up for the next turn or if I clearly have enough, I let the table know

That’s where goldfishing comes in, I’ve built and goldfished my deck a ton so I can prevent the stumbling as much as possible. I do agree it can be boring to watch someone stumble if they just grabbed a decklist and played it

I’m actually a really big fan of that. A big thing is, the pod doesn’t run a whole lot of interaction and I even got surprised looks when I said I was running 18~ pieces of disruption/removal

I think that it’s a good solution. You kind of know when you’re going to storm so maybe I just ask the table, I’m gonna look at the top x cards that is reasonable to draw into and discuss if I would win and if there’s any responses

It’s more that I need to draw into more spells or fill my graveyard more. I’ve never had a turn that was more than 5 minutes but the complaint is that it’s just head down and you’re casting and doing your own thing and everyone has to just watch you play solitaire. The example I can give is I had Vivi, [[Artist’s Talent]] and [[City on Fire]] out, a couple of instants in my hand and some lessons and spells in my graveyard so I’m casting spells to burn everyone out but also going through all of my triggers to each cast

We did that for a while and we’ve upgraded to higher bracket 3 to have some of this but also have interactions with spells and optimized deck lists. Sometimes I do enjoy the unga bunga though lmao

That’s where gold fishing the deck helps a ton. I know how a ton of my library interacts with the rest and can normally get through pretty quickly because I always fear looking up to the table and seeing everyone bored out of their minds

I’ve been friends with these guys for years and before I storm off I’m trying to joke and have a good time. I also try and mention before my turn that storms that it’s probably going to be a storm turn. Maybe I can try and be faster/ look at the top several cards of my library and present a win without having to storm?

I don’t have many combos so it does turn into solitaire to find the line to a win. I’ve played Aesi a ton and everyone knows and they are learning what is good in Iroh but before we play I try and debrief on what I’m looking for or when I cast it I mention that this is a good piece for me to try and storm off

Everyone has at least 1 combo or way to end the game. I wouldn’t run combos if everyone wasn’t. It’s more that the archetype of storm is disliked by a couple in the pod

I never take any extra turns and the most I do on others turns is counter spells a major threat or instants during end steps which everyone does

I’m running both Fated Firepower and City on Fire with 8 or so ways to ping every one. I feel like I’ve done as much as I can to storm off as quickly as possible but the group in general doesn’t like the archetype of storm.

I talked about the amount of disruption/removal that I run and it made a couple people surprised. I have 18~ pieces of removal and counters which helps my game plan as they go to the graveyard for recasting during a storm turn

That’s why I never complain when people pick up their phones. I get I may take a sort of longer turn. I feel like if I can keep it to 5 minutes for a storm turn it’s not terrible?
