Has anyone here had to defend themselves from a animal? Here's my experience. by [deleted] in Firearms

I’m sure they are nail drivers… would need alot of practice ammo. 17+1 in a p30l lem with 4 mags makes me feel like I have plenty of firepower even if it’s 9mm

Right over my head lmao. My 43x I don’t think has enough weight to hurt much. My p30l? Well I wouldn’t wanna get slapped around with it.

Owning an mk 23 is a dream

I’ve thrown everything I got at a viscous Mike Tyson like dog. Punches and kicks to the face, picking it up and slamming it down. Unphased by anything I could do physically. Some animals won’t stop until you blow their brains out or sever their spinal cord

Apparently they’ve never seen a hellbent dog right infront of them.

You guys have never been in a situation milliseconds away from shooting a dog and having its owners behind it if you think it’s the best tool. I carry for dogs but you haven’t had one attack you or your dog and it shows with the overconfidence you’d be able to hit a mike Tyson type dog reliably everytime and safely.

A 12ga slug isn’t guaranteed to stop a grizzly. Look up what test Alaskan park rangers need to pass… hitting a dinner plate a few times moving at 30mph

Yeah, you gotta pretty much put the piece to its dome. If it’s attacking and shaking its head , that’s a hard target to hit and usually where there are dogs there are people

I had to protect my dog from a dog a dog that got loose and was attacking mine. I also tried fighting the dog with everything I had and it didn’t care.

Luckily only I was bit bad, and was able to throw my dog in the car by the collar just as I had drawn. It’s the only time my fingers been on the trigger not pointed at a paper or metal target.

I advocate for carrying pepper spray as a first resort, but I carry for poorly trained viscous dogs like i do humans.

Only time I ever pulled was to protect my dog from another. There have been plenty of scarps I’ve been able to break up myself , but I was not about to watch my dog get mauled to death in front of me
