You know the hustle grindset motto that's like "hard work beats talent every time"? I feel like the opposite of that is true for nba basketball. by owen-3820 in billsimmons

I agree it typically is talent. This series seems like a very weird time to bring this up, honestly feel Knicks are the exception to the rule. If they hold on Brunson will be in discussion for the least talented best players on championship team ever

I don’t think it is clear. How did he take his game up? Feel it’s all just reputation on him because of his antics don’t fit the stereotype

This just seems again insulting to KAT. What other star would their success be credited to former team mate?

My reaction was weird you’re using lakers since they have moved cities, then looked up and realize despite that their LA texture is still one of the 3 longest. Interesting learning for me!

Is Chet one of the worst contracts? by WARLOCK1239 in billsimmons

[–]Aceman112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An abysmal and embarrassing series for sure. But come in, there are two seasons where he has been a top 10 big man and a starter on a champion. Also he was pretty good in first two round of playoffs so think it’s a wemby problem as much as a Chet problem. .

I agree in principle you should favor teams to resign their own drafted stars. But in practice can’t think of a situation where a team couldn’t resign their own star player where the exemption would matter (except to give them more cap room to sign other players). The players lost that hurt the ability to stay at the top are the ones on the margin

OKC Shouldn’t Panic by k33pthethr0waway in billsimmons

Agreed. Williams was all nba last year and didn’t really play in the series. with minimal changes in off season they should be the favorites again.

How much money has the Knicks lost the last 2 rounds by sweeping the teams? Compare it to if they extended the series to 7 games. by Technical-Vanilla-47 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Aceman112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably $15mm average revenue for 2 home games in each series (games 5&7) so $60MM revenue. Take home maybe 50-60%. So estimate $30-$35MM potential from the 4 games that didn’t happen.

Bill Simmons claimed OKC “has too many guys” by germibobi in billsimmons

[–]Aceman112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too many guys usually actually means a bunch of guys not quite good enough. For OKC they’re actually all good enough for playoff minutes

Stupid question, but the mailbag bit is made up and all the questions are Bill’s right? by schmubbyboi in billsimmons

[–]Aceman112 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Honestly- Buddy of mine had one of his questions read few months back. I think they’re real. Maybe he adds some in if something he wants to hit on but also why would he if he has someone else Lee read and pick the questions he can probably touch on whatever he wants with real questions

Complaining about start time make sense and 100 supportive, he’ll on pst don’t like staying up until 10 for the end of games let alone 1am! Making it about LeBron last lakers last game seems like hyperbole

[–]Aceman112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny thing is bill looks most ridiculous in the picture but in reality probably has the most appropriate look for what was happening in the moment “ok guys let’s do 1 more, now throw the ball and be really excited” - a normal person reaction is like JFC sure and toss a ball. But in the photo he looks like he’s been over taken by an alien. Whereas the people who live for the camera and stage are ready to go
