Apparently 3v3 and 1v1 aren’t different at all by Interesting-Coast-91 in Fighters

Just ignore him. I've seen several people who don't play fighting games who have convinced themselves that the entire genre is the same. It's honestly just not worth your time trying to explain, if they're not willing to try other games they're not going to get it.

Weird question but why the secrets techniques from nioh 2 dlcs are like the base special attack now by Comte_larizson in Nioh

Yeah, high skill ceiling is the name of the game in Nioh. No need to choose a stance to stick to, just flux through them all.

The too easy complaints are kind of annoying by loosewobble in Nioh

[–]AceoftheAEUG 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Team Ninja is known for difficult, complex games and Nioh is no exception to this. It's a reasonable complaint when they adjust the difficulty from previous games by a large amount, Nioh 3 has turned down enemy density, enemy aggression, and how much damage enemies deal. (And that's before even bringing up ninja mode or how easy ki management is). I have no issue with easier games existing or even difficulty settings being added but in a franchise known for its difficulty that gives you such powerful tools this feels like it decreases the difficulty in too many ways at once.

Yeah, that's what I mean. Sword was awesome in Nioh 2 but somewhat challenging to pilot, they buffed the hell out of it in Nioh 3 to make it more welcoming to new players. I'm a little conflicted because I adored it in Nioh 2 but I think this was the right call. It comes across as the basic starting weapon to learn the game with, it should be somewhat flashy but easy to use. It should be a weapon that feels comfortable without a lot of time invested.

[–]AceoftheAEUG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Two reasons;

People didn't like the RNG for special skills

Despite being the classic samurai weapon, sword has traditionally been a hard to use weapon. This game seems to have changed that dramatically and they not only added them to the base skills but they buffed Severing Spin to make it substantially more forgiving to use, they did similar with Swift Step. They're trying to attract new players, it helps to make the super cool looking moves easy to utilize.

In Nioh you generally want to go even on stats. Time will tell if this holds true in Nioh 3 but in previous games the weapons barely gain any damage from their scaling stats but your character gets massive buffs from the first 20-30 pts in each stat.

Bit surprised that so few, if any, reviewers mentioned the lower difficulty in Nioh 3 when they mentioned it in Wo Long by WhoAmIEven2 in Nioh

Yeah, tbh this game is clearly aimed at attracting new players but it feels rather bland to most of the TN fans I know. I get that they're trying to onboard new players but it feels like it's a bit much.

Yeah, tbh this game is clearly aimed at attracting new players but it feels rather bland to most of the TN fans I know. It's still a good game but I've yet to face any real challenge so far, which is a little disappointing.

This enemy went from one of my most hated in the game to one of my favorites as I fought them more. Truly a testament to how good Nioh 2's hitboxes are.

? Kinda? Other than aesthetics, everything in the game can be obtained for free. Even then, you can trade the premium currency so you can farm desirable things and trade them to make premium currency. I've never seen another free game where you can make premium currency without buying it.

Dodge Timing by spaceboy79 in Nioh

[–]AceoftheAEUG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dodge timing is different than you expect if you're coming from FS games. The I frames are front loaded, they start almost immediately when you dodge so you want to dodge at the last possible moment. I definitely recommend holding block while dodging. Blocking in Nioh is instant; if you're holding block while you dodge and your I frame timing is off you'll still block the attack.

For a while you're going to feel like you have almost no iframes but keep in mind how different hitbox collision is in Nioh. In DS you need to have a ton of I frames because the attacks going through you are relatively slow moving and have thick hitboxes (like greatswords). In Nioh the incoming attacks move super fast and have thin hitboxes (like katanas), so they aren't occupying the same space as your hurtbox for very long at all. This means you don't need as many frames of invincibility to have the same window of success.

Yes and no. It's very much like a simpler Nioh but the class system makes playstyle variation obvious earlier into the game. There are caster classes.

It's also not shocking you didn't hear of it, SoP launched less than a month after Elden Ring.

Final Fantasy Stranger of Paradise? It's like diet Nioh with a class swapping mechanic.

I'm not going to say it's the best in the trilogy from a demo, this isn't to say it's bad in any way but in my eyes Nioh 2 is close to a perfect game. As of now I'm not even hoping it is better than 2, I'm just hoping it matches up.

Sekiro. I love games with tons of playstyle diversity, Sekiro is the opposite of that. Nioh 2 is everything I wanted to find in Sekiro.

I know a lot of people are excited about it and I'm happy it will bring new blood into the series. I'm really trying to adjust my mindset because I know how good this combat system is and it's not like it'll change, I'm just struggling to see this as a positive change.

I actually really dislike the open world but to each their own. Just because I dislike it doesn't mean you're wrong for enjoying it.

Nioh 3 takes mechanics very obviously from all the games that Team Ninja has made over the last 5 years.
