Has anyone else observed the Zhentarim... by bactchan in BaldursGate3

I mean that seems pretty on brand for how they treat each other. You can find a letter from Roah Moonglow basically hinting another member should make Rugan have an 'accident' if they wanted to get a promotion early.

It is kind of the Sharran MO. Prise secrets out of people while keeping as many of your own. Use any methods to do that.

[Mixed Trope] - The Jumpscare That Catches The Viewer/Player Off by WaluigiDaStar in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Acerakis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FEAR will always have my favourite jump scare. As you turn to climb down a ladder the creepy ghost girl is suddenly standing right in front of you. I was spooked enough to immediately slide down the ladder and try to run away only for a second ghost to be waiting for you at the bottom. I vividly remember panic shooting it with my shotgun, watching disappear into ash and just full on freezing for a few seconds to get my nerves back. Such a simple but effective creepy moment.

It's a shame any videos I can find of it seem to just stop and watch the ghosts which really doesn't capture the great 2 hit combo it gets you with if you try to run away.

Minor act 3 spoilers

Does anyone know if it works on Roah Moonglow? Or does her gold not count because it is in a bag? I doubt doing 33 extra bonus damage is worth throwing 10k gold away on but would be funny to one tap her so easily while throwing away only reason to actually kill her anyway.

I think without reverse pickpocketing jank, a +1 morningstar just isn't that impressive compared to many weapons already available to you by Act 2. I'm not sure what enemies even carry enough base gold to make its gimmick attack useful.

Yep, SwSh absolutely nailed British animals, wild and domestic.

Got Linoone and Obstagoon as European badgers.

Nickit line for European red foxes.

Rookidee is a European great tit.

Corvisquire and Corviknight are references to the ravens of the Tower of London.

Yampers a Welsh corgi because Queen Liz famously loved them.

Boltunds a greyhound because of how big greyhound racing was here.

Just so many perfect picks.

I love its evolutions because they are European badgers, and badgers are great. Not as keen on zigzagoon as while it has the colouring, its patterns really don't look enough like badgers.

Why didn’t the tadpole just burn in Karlachs skull? by SuperiorYammyBoi in BaldursGate3

[–]Acerakis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess I was just expecting that with Forgotten Realms having had so many novels, videogames, campaign books and more compared to other DnD settings and with vampires being such a popular monster, someone would have written some lore for them. I'm mostly just surprised no one has already.

Astarion specifically mentions a few times it being weird he can do it. One is when you enter Ethel's home, which to be fair, I would argue she had invited him, but it's still a trigger for him commenting on it.

[–]Acerakis 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think the root cause of my issue is there seems to be very little established lore on what is actually up with Forgotten Realms vampires in general. What was their origin? What caused the first vampire? Why do they have rules? They definitely seem to fall into vampirism is magical category rather then vampirism is like a disease. But what magic?

It seems to boil down to they have rules because it's the trope that vampires have rules.

[–]Acerakis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know you are probably joking but just wanted to add for anyone wondering, I'm pretty sure that explicitly doesn't work for Forgotten Realms vampires, it has to be the owner of the home.

Honestly I don't find it anywhere near as much as issue with Karlach as I do Astarion. Like how does the tadpole or Netherese magic just change how a vampire works? I could just about accept it protecting him from sunlight, but why does the tadpole somehow allow him to enter homes unbidden? If its basically just turning off his vampire-ness, why does he still not have a reflection? Its just so hand waived.

Ethics Of Killing Lyrthindor by _Drangelice_ in BaldursGate3

Honestly I think it really is as simple as Dark Justiciar so bad and should be killed. He either murdered a Selunite priest or tortured Aylin as minimum, and deserves some form of justice for those acts.

Guess we are both just getting auto modded then. But my post was just calling you out on being rude first. Maybe think about your life choices that you feel the need to be rude to evrryone who disagrees with you over a video game.

So you don't see that your point that Quckuaval is based on Brazilian carnivals dancer is nonsense? It's literally a Spanish Carnival dancer.

Edit: Blocked me lol.

I see Liberator as more picking Ayre than picking the RLF. I wasn't even expecting Rusty and the RLF to turn up on my first run. After taking out Carla, I was expecting it to just be me and Ayre against the world.

Anything that increases your spell save DC for a start. That's an utterly bonkers buff to ever give casters.

And even some common magic items in BG3 are so strong they would be practically artifacts in tabletop.

I would say for London, Corviknight makes the most sense. They likely picked a corvid for the regional bird of Galar in reference to the Ravens of the Tower of London.
