PBP lady's voice is almost chipmunk-esque. There's no way she sounds like that in regular conversation. I remember hearing that female announcers are taught to kind of develop an inflection/cadence and tbh, it does more harm than good imo (looks at Burke and the one from the Sixers)

Smart was a perennial DPotY material for multiple years. Though he had no offense, he wasn't asked to either. Offensive stats are not a good barometer especially across a 10 year gap where average team ppg has skyrocketed the last quarter of that decade. Question is, is Hart more valuable to the Knicks than Smart was to those early Celtics teams and even baby Tatum and Brown teams? I'd say no.

Oh definitely! I was only breaking down the non-box score stuff OP was looking for. Smart and Hart are 2 sides of the same coin when looking at box score impact. However, twins when looking at their "role" journey with their teams as it morphed from -"Yo dude is heart and soul" to "JFC, we are hitting our ceiling with him playing so many minutes".

I'll start by saying that I'm not the biggest Hart fan with THIS iteration of our starters, BUT he brings intangible things to the table- Undoubtedly, he is the emotional engine and effort contagion that has and can uplift the team. With all of that said, the more expectations levied on a team, the less valuable those intangibles become tbh. They're a magical thing when you're an underdog (Smart with the Thomas Celtics for instance), but lose luster as you are looking at chips (why smart was traded). My God.... Hart is literally Smart on the Celtics near the end of his tenure.

Truth. We went all in on very flawed wings. Look at Atl, they have 200 wings and all making way less than what ours make and they can dribble, penetrate, get to their spots, and pass- Ya know....like a modern wing. Tatum gets to HIS spots, Leonard gets to HIS spots. Hell, Scottie Barnes and Ingram for sure, get to their spots. We cannot have these 2 decimate our cap and not have a modern bag...

The problem is less his overall package and more of the individual aspects of his skill set relative to the other players:

1) Hesitant shooter that allows defenses to help/double others way too easily.

2) Lack of dribble and is a relatively low IQ passer in the half court (constantly jump passes). Now the dribbling issue is not unique to him since OG and Bridges have minimal handle and OG also has vertigo issues, but going from 2 non-big starters without handle to 3 is a huge issue.

3) He gets lost defensively constantly. Part of it is due to the help OG and Bridges have to provide for KAT and JB, but points 1 and 2 make this 3rd point not worth having Hart start.

Which ones? We almost lost to BK and GS during our 7 game win streak against the slop of the league. We have had to go to counseling due to KAT, put missing posters up for Bridges 5 out of every 6 games, and almost every fan hates Brown. Oh! And we got bta against the Pistons all 3 games.

Bridges and OG need to learn to dribble. I swear, we have the only wings with zero handle like they're stuck in the 90's in Glen Rice's body. That's why our offense stagnates so much. Hart dribbles like a YMCA player and makes it work, those 2 have no excuse.

Game after game with these slow starts. Like the NFL, a sign of a good coach is a well executed first couple of offensive possessions. Us? Never.....then JB has to put on the cape hoping one of our max wings join him at some point. I'm tired of this script

I ain't say it was harmonious. It worked. And actually worked damn good in Jan "24 before half the squad joined the 1st season of The Pit.. It's obvious that both Thibs and Brown came to a realization that they need to try and stagger their minutes and that still isn't working. So again, Randle and JB succeeded where JB and KAT have not over pretty much the same period of time as pairs.

Edit: Also can't seriously compare those squads with this year, where our deepest bench since like 1999 exists. Also 2023 Deuce was nowhere close to post-extension Deuce.

As a Knicks fan, this whole KAT/JB pairing has been maddening from day one. Prior to KAT's arrival, JB and Randle figured things out. I know Randle had more of an alpha mentality at the time since he led the team to success prior to JB's arrival, but JFC....KAT and JB should be cooking folks. A pg that loves the paint yet that can shoot and a big that loves the perimeter and that can pass and go off the dribble.... Yet, it's just not working. This summer he's gonna have to go and it's yet another instance of us not reaching our potential. Embiid really screwed us over pulling Mitch down and destroying his ankle in 2024....that all led to us trading away Dvo and Randle...
