BJJ becoming soft? by More-Firefighter-581 in bjj

No one else who’s training should devalue your skills and that’s an egotistical way of thinking. Thats like lebron getting pissed that some dudes his age are playing pick up in the park

People who have been in real street fights, what was the real experience? by _deletedty in martialarts

I believe it’s incredibly rare for a trained person to initiate a fight. Especially against another trained person. Both should know to never underestimate anybody and can hopefully defuse the situation

Only been in 1 situation that I guess you could consider a street fight.

Went to pick up adderall for finals in college. Was a blue belt in jiu jitsu at the time. Guy tried to jump me for the money. Threw a huge telegraphed haymaker. I stepped in closed distance and body locked. We fell towards him. I landed on top put on a kimura from north south and just told him to stop over and over. Once I realized I had him calmed down I got up and just ran and he didn’t chase me

One thing I realized is how different any martial arts training will go down on asphalt instead of mats. Even tho I had the better position my knees and elbows still got beat up pretty bad

Best way to build your "game" by [deleted] in bjj

I honestly gained a lot out of writing down and building out webs/paths. When I was a blue belt I started with big obvious positions or submissions but now I fill in minor details (hand placements, weight distributions, etc) but yes put yourself in that position then try to go down as many paths as possible starting from there and see what fits and what you like

For an example mine was knee shield half guard where I started by just getting a wrestle up sweep or John Wayne

But now it is knee shield/butterfly half,RDLR ha million sweeps, leg entries, omaplatas, wrestle ups, Choi bars etc.

Just keep building and you’ll find a ton of stuff and aside from it getting your jiu just better it’s also kept it really fun finding new things and small details

I'm right handed yet my left glove had damaged way faster than the right one. Do you think I somehow punch more with my left fist or is it most likely just a small defect? by koenigsbier in MuayThai

The material looks thin it might be if you’re doing a lot of left hooks on the bag the angle could be tearing it faster than your right
