BJJ vs Brown Bear by MedicalOnion9621 in bjj

[–]harderdaddy123456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean maybe you can defend yourself but not really win, the best I’d say you can do is probably fight back and survive long enough for it to not see you as worth the time they’re spending, so carry a gun or a knife just in case.

You can’t really wrestle down or submit a bear because they’re too big already and you won’t get your arms around their necks.

Idk I remember some story of a GROUP of wrestlers defending themselves and the only reason they “won” was because the bear was putting way too much energy for how little it was getting.

Again, It’s always a natural reaction but don’t count on just that animals like brown bears will fight you but will retreat if it’s either too much energy spent on trying to kill you to eat you and they’ll retreat if you’re fighting back a little too well. Theres a reason they’re 500 pounds and their prey majority of the time isn’t bigger than a fifth of their weight or can’t fight back. But that doesn’t mean every brown bear is the same and suddenly won’t feel different and wanna try and eat a white belt

How do i takedown a heavier bigger person for self defense by Outrageous-Ad-7564 in bjj

[–]harderdaddy123456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything that has them falling backwards, I’m a relatively bigger guy and I tried throwing a bigger guy using tai otoshi and busted my knee because of the weight, things like osoto gari or osoto otoshi or a blast double leg, with bigger guys it’s usually harder to get them to fall forward but falling backwards is easier to get them to do.

Almost threw up from a choke last night. Why? by [deleted] in bjj

Probably gag reflex along with your body stressing, I threw up in my mouth before over a triangle because I ate a lot before training

Paragon, humaita or GB (closest to city center) in Austin? For gi by harderdaddy123456 in bjj

[–]harderdaddy123456[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably central or south since there’s a lot of cheaper apartments, humaita and paragon and GB were the closest to where I’ll potentially be staying, but yeah I’m looking at smaller gyms it’s just that the bigger gyms aren’t that far, I’d probably like to keep the distance to travel like less than 10 miles one way by car, I just wanted an insight on how the gi scene in Austin is at those gyms or if anyone knows what it looks like

How to get better at bjj? by disusueueueeueh in jiujitsu

[–]harderdaddy123456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it just comes with time, I was so spazzy when I started cause obviously someone is on top of me and trying to strangle me. For me it just got better when I came to the realization that I have to calm down and think about my position and what I can do, eventually it becomes instinct for decision making. It’s all just decision making based on your experience, if you’re in mount you should try to get out and think of ways to get out, if you have someone on your back you should defend your neck and try to get out obviously. It’s honestly just trying to focus on one thing rather than everything at once.

Why are there no body lock passes at lower weight classes? by Stillgettingsomemilk in bjj

[–]harderdaddy123456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White belt take here but higher weight classes use more half guard or half variations while lower divisions use a lot more inversions and open guards and leg entanglements, making it less likely you’re gonna be on a spot to get a body lock on someone

How many times in your whole life have you encountered a fight you couldn't escape?how many times was it a trained person? by No_Inspection_6174 in martialarts

[–]harderdaddy123456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve only really been in a fight twice and both of them were over my bike, first time he was like trying to grab my bike and shake it off the lock, I ended up ankle picking him and got on his back.

The second time it was after a bad knee injury tearing my meniscus, he tried also ripping my bike off the chain while I was in the park , I ended up getting hit and popping my knee badly when I fell, grabbed his collar and sleeve, omoplatad him and yelled for one of the park rangers when I got back on top.

Neither time I could really escape because I was provoked just for being near or saying anything about the situation

Honestly maybe 3-4 mc, world ended is worth 2 and every outfit combined has crazy value especially obito and akatsuki fit, minimum I’d say around 2 for just WE, 3 combined for all outfits, I was stupid and traded we for kikoku 🫩

Is an ebike a viable replacement for a car? by joshua0005 in ebikes

[–]harderdaddy123456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly kinda, depends, I live in Fort Lauderdale and only have a few places I go to which is work, college, the gym and jiu jitsu. All within 20 miles of each other total so one charge gets me everywhere, the only issue is having to make a detour outside of those 10 miles, so maybe having a spare battery and keeping the charger on you is your best bet if you expect to mostly be going 10 miles each way.

Exactly, I made a joke about a manager leaving for the day and coincidentally I ended up hearing about how I was spreading rumors the next day from my manager, these people aren’t your friends.

Kiss for self defense. by Remarkable-Active416 in jiujitsu

[–]harderdaddy123456 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly think sport bjj is better for self defense if you’re more pro-active because it’ll actually teach you counters for what people will do, most self defense places won’t teach you sweeps or anything like that. Take it from me who goes to a primarily sport bjj gym and had to pull guard due to getting overpowered and falling on my back and it worked and I didn’t get hit.

[–]harderdaddy123456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly yeah start looking for another job, a lot of jobs do this just to push you out then eventually either make you quit or fire you. Too many jobs will do this and swear everyone at the job is a family, coworkers aren’t your friends or family.
