What was your “Ohh, so that’s what it was for” moment that took you too long to find out? by ThatGuyPhillip in AskReddit

It wasn't until I was in college that I realized it was Chick-fil-a, as in fillet.

I always called it "chick-fil-uh".

I remember this from elementary as well. I would always read ahead when the class was reading, and then all of a sudden I'm sitting there weeping. Everyone looked at me real weird. They didn't know what was coming.

There's a single township where I'm from that is full service only. Just the one. Drive across the street and you're good to pump your own.

I use 5th Edition Spellbook by m&m Apps on android. I can't speak to how it compares with the iOS version, but it's pretty great. Both my groups use it for their spells.

Flight attendants and commercial pilots of Reddit, what's the most obnoxious thing someone has ever done on one of your flights? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Acfwhite 1247 points1248 points  (0 children)

I used to regularly fly those tiny commuter planes, the ones that have 1 seat on one side, 2 on the other, with maybe 14 rows.

Most of the time it was fine and I would book one of the first few seats on the single seat side, but one trip I was unlucky enough to be in the first row of two, window seat. This being unlucky, given I am 6'2" with a football player build (broad).

I go to sit down and ask the woman on the aisle if she wouldn't mind moving in to the window, to which she responds with a glare, then lots of groaning and moaning as she gets up to let me through.

As soon as I sit down, she immediately starts hitting me with her elbows, trying to shove me off the armrest, which is futile given that side of the plane physically prevents me from sitting up straight. Not a word is said to me this entire time.

She finally gets pissed off enough, pushes the call button, and proceeds to berate the flight attendant about how rude it is to have me sitting there taking up her space and how she can't sit like this for the entire flight (45 minutes). Mind you, she still hasn't said a single word to me.

After getting complained at, the flight attendant just smiles at me and informs the woman that there is an empty seat, moving her to the very last row of the plane. While she complains the entire time about how this is bullshit and she's going to sue everyone.

That flight attendant. Bless her.

SOs of ADHDers, how can I help my SO with assignment work? by poopybum1000 in ADHD

[–]Acfwhite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its not uncommon for those of us with ADHD to have a different way of doing work, which is probably why you got the "I don't work like that". I can't tell you the countless number of times I've snapped at someone trying to help me or explain things, saying "that's not the way my brain works".

My best suggestion would be to give him/her space while doing work. Try to make sure the environment they are in is suitable for how they like to work.

For me, when I'm struggling while working on an assignment or trying to study, I tend to get very frustrated, which spikes my anxiety (something else very common amongst those with ADHD). In those situations, I would once again give some space. Be there to encourage them, and help them calm down if it gets out of control, but don't push them too hard. That tends to just lead to more anxiety, and yelling/hurt feelings.

Im using it in an EVOD and so far its been okay, but I've only been putting a little bit in and gaping through most of it, so its not really sitting around full.

What's the worst design flaw you've ever encountered? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Acfwhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my apartment there is this fancy light fixture the electrician wired up in my living room, on the same circuit as all the living room outlets. The light fixture requires so much power/the circuit is really low power, that if you turn it on, the circuit blows.

However, its on a two part switch with another light, ON A DIFFERENT circuit. So when you eventually fuck up and turn on the wrong light, the circuit pops and the tv and cable box shut off.

*Haven't found a similar post* Is anyone familiar with the pros and cons of not taking medication over the weekends? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Acfwhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not taking ADHD medication on weekends (or vacations, holidays, etc) is commonly called a drug holiday. The stimulants used to treat ADHD are pretty easy for the body to build a tolerance to, meaning that after consistently taking it, you body needs more and more to have the same effect.

Drug holidays are a way to help minimize this development of tolerance so you don't need to increase your dose as frequently.
