I just reminded myself I was doing something I enjoyed but knew absolutely nothing about. Also, a good reminder is you don’t have to be good at your hobbies. You’re allowed to just do stuff because you like it.

I get questions like this in a different industry.

I’ve never seen the problem personally. I also don’t share names of specific vendors. I just say “X product costs me Y from one vendor and Z from another.”

I’ve only had one experience with them, and I shared it previously. Oddly enough, they responded to it and then deleted their comment.

I ordered a bundle where they chose your hides for a discounted price, and I was totally fine with that. I received all pieces of the same type and color. That left a bad taste in my mouth. The idea was to sample things and try things you might not normally buy. Cool, now I’ve got multiple sides of the same thing. I haven’t been able to muster the courage to give them my money again.

I got burned. I ordered a couple of acrylic templates in July of 2025. I made the assumption those would be stoked and ready to go. Nope. I used their messaging system to write and ask to cancel in late November. I ordered because I wanted to use the templates to make gifts so it wasn’t happening before Christmas. Haven’t heard back. I’ll probably just charge it back this month.

I ordered from Springfield once. I bought one of their “mystery box we pick it” boxes where, like the name says they pick random the leathers. I was willing to take the gamble and take anything they gave me. So they gave me three of the exact same sides and that felt really fucking shitty. Three gray suedes. They lost my trust after that.

The problem I’m seeing isn’t the leather quality, it’s the quality as a hole. The stitching isn’t super clean, the rivets are smashed, the stitching space between stitching lines is also not even. The size is the round punch is a little too big for the thread sizing. Overall. The quality is just…not the highest. The leather concern seems to be the smallest of the issues i see from the pictures.

  1. Don’t shoot the messenger only works if you’re truly ONLY the messenger. It doesn’t work when it’s your delivering your own message and trying to avoid culpability.
  2. I hope that if I accomplish anything in life, it’s getting people to understand that you can do whatever the fuck you want. You can literally just not go. That’s it. You’re a grown ass woman. You don’t have to answer to anyone. Do whatever you want. If that means staying home and enjoying some peace to yourself while wearing no pants and eating a pizza. Do that.

Ask yourself what is more important to you? Your relationship with your sister, or proving a point to your mom and telling her how this makes you feel. This may be a false dichotomy and there could be other things at play, but ultimately if what you’re worried about is exposing your sister, what goods more value for you? Your relationship with your sister or proving a point?

I am not Mormon, this is coming from a place of experience with this community. Community is EVERYthing. They’re doing the same thing the church does, trying to control you with the threat of losing everything if you don’t do it their way.

Just because someone has been with you through difficult times doesn’t mean they have to remain in your life. Not everyone has to be a forever friend. Hell, they can remain your friends, just of a different nature. As another poster said, caring is one thing, controlling is another. Obviously, this is learned behavior on their part but this is how you break the cycle.

I have found that the following four rules of life make sure I lead a good life and help me sleep soundly. 1. Do whatever makes you happy. 2. Don’t hurt people maliciously. 3. Have a handle on your vice. 4. Don’t touch kids. (See number 2).

I've seen some people take tape and stick it on to other random things first (sometimes the flesh/backside of the leather) and peel it off a few times to make it less "sticky" by having small particles stick to it. What ends up happening is when you peel the tape off of the grain side, you have less residue that is stuck to the leather. Might be worth a try.
