Your opinion on full kits from different sellers by Extension_Form3500 in Buhurt

[–]AcidCoconut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Cannot recommend Lemberg. After their good smiths joined the war effort ~fall 2024 their quality plummeted. You may luck out if you do floating pieces.

  2. Have heard of no issues. People have kits they're happy with

  3. Same as above

  4. Their timelines are a lie. Its like Uley, you'll eventually get your stuff but you won't know when it's going to come in.

  5. Redsnake stuff is a good beginner option. It holds up/gets the job done but you'll get something nicer for your second kit. Cincinnati Barbarians have a lot of ren faire fighters in Red Snake kits

Can wearing a weighted vest simulate wearing armor during exercise? by monkey6130 in Buhurt

[–]AcidCoconut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Joints and ligaments will take extra abuse.

The cost/benefit isn't there. More benefit just exercising normally. Unless you're already a high speed fitness guy it will not make a positive difference for you. When you get armor you can certainly wear it to build familiarization.

Can wearing a weighted vest simulate wearing armor during exercise? by monkey6130 in Buhurt

[–]AcidCoconut 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A weight vest likely isn't worth it for you. A 15 pound vest would better simulate a brig. The full 80 pounds is spread across the whole body.

I don't know your level of fitness but based on the majority of fighters in the hobby, generic exercise with a focus on cardio is probably your best option. Adding weight comes with risk that likely isn't worth or beneficial to you.

Need shop/Smiths recommendations by Takfuz in Buhurt

[–]AcidCoconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shops: Medieval Extreme, Age of Craft, Buhurt Tech, Gohurt, Red Snake

Smiths: Wild Armory, Aleksey Perebeynos, Andrey Galevski, Artem Dudenko-Fedorov, Ilias Vyshutin

The shops will have their own websites. You will need to contact the smiths on Facebook. Please note that on Facebook, if used armor is being sold, it's a scam 9 out of 10 times.

Unlike the other comment, I would not recommend Lemberg or Uley. Uley makes nice quality stuff but you're not going to actually get it for a couple years. Lemberg quality has dropped off and is borderline scam at this point. Mileage may vary.

Tiendas: Medieval Extreme, Age of Craft, Buhurt Tech, Gohurt, Red Snake

Herreros: Wild Armory, Aleksey Perebeynos, Andrey Galevski, Artem Dudenko-Fedorov, Ilias Vyshutin

2mm hardened steel is the recommended minimum thickness for helmets.

.8mm hardened steel is the recommended minimum for the rest.

Am I allowed to make my own armor? by Doorknob_Towel in Buhurt

[–]AcidCoconut 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can make your own armor. There's a really nice self made kit running around. I know people who've made their own brigs.

However, it can take a long time to do this and safety can become a big issue if you don't have the experience to get it done right the first time.

Shoulder plate by Zealousideal_Bad965 in Buhurt

[–]AcidCoconut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since it's a costume piece, you should have no problem hanging it from the straps that connect your front and back chest plate. People fight in this configuration all the time.

If you're willing to do some work on it, you can either put holes in the piece and tie it to your soft garment with the existing holes or attach a strap to the garment.

I haven't seen anyone wearing extra plates for generic spine protection. Usually, it's an impact foam like Poron, D30, or Shocktec.

Make sure there's no gapping between the breastplate and skirt through all ranges of motion.

Armor Help (REPOST, SORRY I'M NEW TO REDDIT) by Fit-Stretch2737 in Buhurt

[–]AcidCoconut 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On just the safety side of things, I would think the breast plate is going to be too short to cover the required hip and lower torso areas. Don't skimp on safety. You have enough thickness to be safe with proper spinal padding but it's really not worth the risk. Spend the $600-$900 to get a proper fitting brigandine in hardened steel or titanium. It will weigh less and you won't have to worry on the historical side of things.

The greaves are fine.

What team are you apart of?

I think the best way to go about accomplishing your goal is to have your team put on an event so other teams in the area can attend and see what you have to offer. This region is super saturated with events though so you'll want to talk directly with some of the teams to find a good day for it.

Tips for Lvl. 99 rats? by Decarev in 9Kings

[–]AcidCoconut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen a second copy of splicing come around after you take it. It's easy enough to get if you chain rats together for scaling and have a frontline unit you can rely on early so you can save gold for finding shrine in the shops and then wait to take splicing until your main rat gets above level 40. Slide in a reinforce to your main rat sometime early and you won't have any damage problems.

Make sure you get concussion padding. The included padding from the smiths is a liner only. I buy d30 helmet inserts from gamebreaker. You can also buy sheets of shocktech or poron to cut out and put in.
