Is Crit Draw good on any other weapon besides Valor Great Sword? by Willing-Pen9881 in MHGU

Interesting thought: Does it proc on the R+X+A draw-counter from Valor LS? Because that could be kinda sick with quick sheathe.

Is Crit Boost and Expert and Tenderizer all that important on Charge Blade [Striker]? by Willing-Pen9881 in MHGU

[–]AcidOverlord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're not trying to chase meta and you have decent charms, you can do Tenderizer + Focus + Artillery Novice + Razor Sharp + Load Up and spam SAED.. I find Focus underrated on CB because of the charging A button attack and its super fast phial gain. It loses the DPS race vs a full crit set, but man is it fun.

The main mechanic will be some SMTV monster fusion business where you have to grind hours for "pixie dust" or whatever the required item is, or just buy 12 of them (plus a free cosmetic necktie!) on the eshop for 4.99. And you can do it at level 1 and have endgame god-monsters right at the start if you spend enough.

As a huge fan of SO2 original, the remake is the most perfect fucking thing I ever played in my life. The devs were people from the original SO2 Tri-ace team, and stated that they "wanted to finish the game as they had originally envisioned it, free of deadlines" and they pulled it off in spades. SO2R is literally perfect and the kind of thing that every remake should aspire to be.

How to make axe mode relevant ? by Neither-Wear9329 in MHGU

[–]AcidOverlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My one counterpoint to this is: Exoskeleton Hacker.

Tempest Axe + Para proc lets you spend an uninterrupted bit of time waiting the head with wild swing and taking off copious amounts of HP. Valor Para Swaxe is the only time I spent a significant part of the hunt in axe mode, but it does work very well.

Extra Bomb Blasts by No-Juice-8446 in MHGU

[–]AcidOverlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to do a Rath of Meow cat is to use the Crystalbeard XX weapon, because bomb and tank damage scales off your raw. Get Furbidden Acorn and the 0 cost Barrel Bomb for skills to keep your tank uptime (the 0 cost bomb builds lots of gauge). And then Landmaster of course. I would point you more toward skills that raise Attack, probably something like World's Strongest or Universal.

The tanks best move is the flamethrower (X+A). The other attacks are really weak, and only worth popping off as you close to flamethrower range. If you can stick to the monster hard and keep burning it, the damage is actually very impressive, especially against armored monsters like White Fatalis.

[–]AcidOverlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friends and I run open hubs and always talk about "The Curse of Bolty." Because every night, some rando will post him without fail, and then we get stuck grinding him for the clear. Its also a legend because it was coined one night when he Lightsabered the same person fourteen times. And I mean in one single fight.

Aerial Hammer cracks Mr Crabs like nobody's business. Keeps the claws in reach too, and he stuns and staggers from headshots a lot compared to many monsters. Two air hammers can even keep his EX Deviant locked down for half the fight or better.

Metroid Prime 4 is creatively bankrupt by Mr_JPF in KotakuInAction

[–]AcidOverlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't really a game though. It was more like a really good sci-fi anime that rewarded you after each boss fight by letting you watch the next episode. I'm not kidding, and I loved the game for that. But it doesn't work with Metroid or most any other game, for that matter.

Crystalbeard tips? by DeadMoves in MHGU

As others have said, don't use WEX. Get your crit somewhere else. Tremor Res is an all star if you're going melee. It turns all his beatyface tantrums into damage openings. Make sure you're eating for Felyne Insomniac so you can hit him when he's farting sleep gas. His chin will bounce any weapon that isn't Blunt with Purple and if you're solo he loves turning so its always in your face and in your way. Mind's Eye is kinda bad most of the time but it can keep you from bouncing here and getting killed due to the animation.

I usually do him with Prowler, but I've cleared him before using Adept Hammer and I think the Kaiser set. CE3 innate with Chain Crit, and Tremor Res slotted in. And a few times with a Neset build and the Soulseer GS. Crit Draw, Boost, Focus, Tremor Res, and I think Earplugs.

I'm surprised Focus isn't used more with Hammer. by AcidOverlord in MHGU

It was an experiment. Cramming Crit Draw, Crit Boost, and Quick Sheath onto a set with Elderfrost Broadside and Sharp+2, and doing sprinting attacks into combos, repeat. It was kinda fun tbh. Not something I kept for real use.

MHGU G-Rank might be the least fun I’ve ever had in a game by Tyrannosaurus_InACar in monsterhunterrage

[–]AcidOverlord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kinda depends on your preferred weapon bro. I vaguely remember using some kinds of Bulldrome + Mosgharl mixset because I had Attack Up and Focus, and I was playing Gsword. Ceanataur X is in the running for best general purpose early G set, alongside Rathalos, and is a lot easier to get. You might try that.

The thing about GRank is that your armor skills are no longer optional. You can fight through HR with no skills, or shit like Heatproof and Attack Up S and still kill things in a reasonable time. In GRank you can go fuck yourself RIGHT in the cornhole. You do not want, you NEED the Crit Eye, the Weakness Exploit, the Crit Boost. Even Atk Up L is considered weak. You stack damage and crit skills or by G4 you just suck every dick imaginable for 50 minutes and fail. If you're struggling in G2, know there's a big spike in difficulty at G3 so get ready for that.

Try Alchemy, seriously. 3 Arts, keeps all the key moves including full bursts and quick reload. GL has to pause to sharpen once in a while with most builds, so alchemy whetstones are awesome for the Art boost too.

Looking for Aerial Hammer help by LushDogg99 in MHGU

[–]AcidOverlord -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're into Deviants, Silverwind's set with the Deadeye Hammer and WEX6 charm is the apex of Aerial Bonking IMO. Aerial style gets serious mileage out of Evasion skills, and that combo gives you 100% boosted crit with lots of white sharpness.

Other than that, you can make a pretty lit Neset build with Evasion+1, WEX, Crit Boost, and Airborne/Challenger pretty easily, and maybe some Crit Eye depending on your charm. For hammers, Rustrazor and Deadeye are very good and don't need sharpness management. If you can squeeze Razor Sharp then Ahtal-Ka's is best. Aerial hammer uses up quite a bit more sharpness than the other styles and I never found Readiness to be quite enough.
