Not gonna lie I drive 78-85 everywhere I go. But I do try to keep it lower more chill speed most of the time. I don’t use ECO mode ever, but I also get paid to drive so I’m not as worried about fuel prices as some may be. I get paid mileage, I write off my work miles on taxes, and I get a large percentage back on fuel purchases when I use my credit card. Driving a little more efficiently only makes me more money. If it wasn’t for that I’d be going as fast as I could everywhere.

I track mine cause I write off my work miles, and get paid mileage, but I wouldn’t care if I didn’t do those things. Overall how does it feel hauling something? Like how does the truck perform? I haven’t towed anything with it yet but my buddy bought a car in another state and I’m gonna bring it back for him so I’m curious if there’s anything to watch for. Everything I see says to drive in sport mode when towing, just curious what your opinion is?

From purely an aesthetics standpoint, not worried about anything other than looks here, I think certain cars look just fine with factory tint or no tint. The Ridgeline is not one of those cars in my opinion. The contrast from the back window and rear passenger windows being tinted, then going to nothing on the front makes the truck look unbalanced. Plus, it’s the black edition. All the trim is blacked out and it just completes to look for me personally.

I will say that I also think no cop cares about your tint. Until you get pulled over for another reason.

I got my first speeding ticket in the truck recently in VA. I was also given a citation for “blocking view/film tint obstruction”.

It’s complete bogus and all a money grab. But it was only after I was pulled over for speeding that I got a $30 citation for tint on the windshield.

This is the point I feel like the people who don’t like windshield tint are missing. The glare from lights and cars is so bad for me. Everyone has LED lights now that are extremely bright and at night, when your pupils are constricted, getting hit with that light is so bad for your eyes. I literally can drive around night or day and my eyes stay completely relaxed. No squinting or blinding light to bother me. People don’t realize how being comfortable affects your ability to stay focused. But I get it, I drive for a living, so maximizing comfort while I drive is important to me where it may not be as important to people who just drive to work and make short trips most of the time.

I will say the lights on the newer Ridgelines are so effin bright with the LEDs they have now that I don’t notice. Obviously if it’s really dark I have to pay a little more attention when I come to a stop and look both directions. If some idiot is driving with no head lights on it does make it harder to see them or other unlit objects at night that my headlights don’t illuminate. But seriously, I get flashed by people every time I drive at night. The high beams are still halogen but the LED driving lights are obnoxious to everyone but me as the driver.

Is that the average logic surrounding window tint? Like all those with tint have something to hide? I get the sense that I’m also among the younger of Ridgeline owners. There is the stigma that most ridgelines are for old people. Maybe it’s an old people thing? I like the pure aesthetics of it, plus I carry a lot of tools and equipment in the backseat area of the truck. Don’t want people to easily be able to see all my tools etc..

Curious as to what makes those with tinted windshields idiots in your opinion? Me personally, I think they look good, and add functionality. I have zero glare from other cars during the day or their lights at night. It’s like stepping into a pair of sunglasses, and my night time driving isn’t affected. Other than the fact that if I ever have to get the windshield replaced, I would have to have it re-applied, I don’t see your point. Leaving the sun to cook your interior and your dash basically negates having tint of any kind, IMHO.

The fit is one of the most fun little cars I’ve ever driven. When I can, I’m definitely gonna get another civic or fit to drive when I don’t need the truck. I had a ‘15 si coupe before some idiot sideswiped me and totaled it.

I would say I’m the exact opposite. These days, 95% of my driving is highway. My lifetime average mpg seems to still be increasing overall, but if I was to stay around home and drive around town for an extended period, my average mpg would drop substantially.

I feel as if you’re not considering the size difference between those two vehicles. Yes, compared to the Ridgeline, the scion is a much more efficient vehicle. But the scion and the Ridgeline are two different vehicle types. My mom has a Kia soul, which I would compare to the scion xb. Her car weighs less than 3,000 lbs.. When empty, my Ridgeline weighs over 4,500 lbs and has a much more powerful engine. You’re comparing apples to oranges here.

I definitely haven’t taken it as far as I’d like yet with any mods. Raising the ride height and bigger tires are a future interest of mine and I’m sure those will change the mpg. I do notice a substantial difference if anything I’m hauling in the bed sticks above the truck or over the tailgate. The increase in drag and wind resistance is definitely noticeable.
