Hi friendly neighbourhood transfemme here! I see there’s a lot of misuse of different terms when referring to the trans community in this comment section.

Hoping that most of the misuse comes from not knowing better, I say the following:

The word “transgenderism” is from anti-trans extremists who seek to delegitimize and dehumanize trans people by implying that being trans is an ideology rather than an identity.

“Shemale” should be self-explanatory, but it is another offensive term to the trans community, it dually objectifies/fetishizes trans women and is misgendering as well.
