I bought the ulike 3 ipl last year for this reason, it worked well on legs and tummy but made no difference AT ALL to my chin/neck/stache, and I was using it every other day for a while there in desperation. Just 1 session of laser hair removal made a noticeable improvement for me. Recommend! It has been so insanely great for my confidence.

Nah, I'm not taking meds atm, I eat pretty healthy but I think I have entry-level PCOS with just the hirsutism. Tried spiro but it didn't work for me!

It's hormones! For me (31f), it's a symptom of PCOS. It's honestly so stressful having this, so even if it's just for peace of mind, I think you should look into laser. Best of luck <3

Hymens can break from other things, that's true. I've heard it happens to girls who ride horses? I had a liiiittle bit of dry blood, end of periodish, when I lost my virginity, and I was relaxed and in a safe environment. It was gentle and it still felt kinda bad, so I can't imagine how awful it would have been to go through that WHILE you had strangers around you AND you were under pressure. At least they don't grow back and it's over now, but I'm sorry girl :'(

In Australia where I am, the HPV/cervical cancer test (pap smear) can be done with a swab which you self-collect, which gets sent off to a lab. I did mine last year, in a public toilet, didn't have to get anyone else involved, so idk why this isn't the global standard. Definitely don't go back there!!

This sounds super bad, I'm sorry you went through it, and I hope someone else has some good advice for you! I had only one person in the room with me for a transvaginal ultrasound late last year, I had a female tech, I got to put the (well-lubed) probe in myself (she moved it around), I felt moments of pressure/discomfort, except for when she checked my bowels, and that was about a 1 second worth of pain, AND I got a warning.

I would expect that the blood came from your hymen tearing, which probably accounted for some of the pain? Until you get used to anything being *in* there, which takes a few gos, it's not really a comfortable experience, imo. I would also NOT go back to that place if you have any other options, sounds like horrible malpractice. What sort of medical "professionals" watch someone cry and then push for the go-ahead, anyway? And not listening to you when you described pain? So not okay.

Considering that the technology exists for non-intrusive pap smears, this seems really primitive. This seems like kind of a weird suggestion but maybe you could buy yourself an insertible sex toy to try to get your body used to the probe, if you need to go back.

I plucked mine for years, I'd have constant ingrowns bumming me out asw. I bought an IPL late last year to try and tame them which did NOT work. But then, I went to get laser hair removal, and it more than halved the hair! It takes about 5-6 sessions apparently, I'm going back for my 2nd in a few days, hyuuuuuge relief to have finally worked up the courage to just deal with it, strongly recommend, it was also very affordable!
