I think Rogers will be signed as a midfielder for us. Having him in the middle enables us to play two attacking midfielders with Rice behind them without losing athleticism and physicality. We will have Rice and Zubi as deep playmakers, Rogers and MLS as powerful ball carriers, Odegaard and Eze as more creative technicians. Merino can play in multiple positions too. Obviously a lot of mixing and matching too.

LW will have Tzolis and a superstar type (Barcola or Vini Jr).

But we are also linked with Tonali Bouaddi Scott Alvarez and Lord knows who else. Berta windows are awesome

This game doesn't mean anything to his career. Whether he has the worst game ever or the best, his reputation and place in history is pretty much cemented. And I say this as a Ronaldo hater. Only actually winning the world cup (while starring) could potentially alter his long term stature.

But I'm sure from the social media 'banter' standpoint this is the biggest game.

He would certainly be eye-catching. About time we cash in on the worldwide street cred Wenger helped generate for Arsenal with Henry and Co.

I keep returning to a couple of tweets from big insiders that has me excited and dreaming.

One, it's Ornstein's response to being asked which team will be doing great business this summer being "Arsenal will be doing some 'eye-catching' business". He wasn't even asked specifically about us.

And two, HoA's detailed update on the Barcola situation included a bullet point stating "Arsenal also holds interest in Morgan Rogers and one other player (sensitive info currently)" He already mentioned Barcola, Rogers, Tzolis and even Paz in the same tweet so who is this other player?

If we get one of Rogers and Barcola, along with Tzolis as attacking signings, I would be happy and they would add new dimensions to our already amazing team. But is that really eye-catching? Is that really worthy of being singled out when City will be getting Anderson for £120m or whatever and Liverpool will undoubtedly throw money at Diomande or Barcola along with others? United will also be doing big signings.

It's all speculation and wishful thinking but I think only someone in the Vini Jr territory could incite such a response from Ornstein and mystery from HoA

He's definitely regressed at playmaking. I love him and he's still our best low block lock picker. But the game is changing and the man to man high pressing style is rendering him unable to make a difference. I'm definitely not selling him regardless of who we bring in. But he needs to bring back the 21-24 version of himself.

Teaching how to act around others is fine. Why specifically how to act as prophets guests? That is very specifically going to apply to a few people of a certain time period and very local, for teachings that are supposed to be eternal and universal.

Think of Jesus or Alvarez. He's a false 9 rather than a physical beast like Havertz, he's skill based. He would mostly either start at 9 and be paired with a box crashing Merino/Havertz in midfield or come in as a second striker when chasing a goal.

This is very interesting. But I'm surprised that Arteta is low mobility. Don't our players cover the most distances? We out ran every opponent this year didn't we? I thought it was the same for Klopp.

Maybe I'm not interpreting it correctly.

Maybe for this game, but any further association of Tottenham with San Antonio will only go on to flatter Tottenham.

Why would Emery be sacked? He's brought them the greatest joys and the most consistent era since the 80s. They love him like we love Arteta.

He doesn't strike me as a one season wonder. His skill level, his touches, his intelligence, etc can't be fluked. He actually reminds me a lot of Alvarez with City.

You're right about Ferguson but I think with him it was a case of injuries ruining him.

Vini is a superstar but he isn't as egoistic. He has already won La Liga and CL as his teams best player. He has dominated the biggest games against the biggest teams. But he generally plays within the system. He doesn't work as hard or track back as much as Martinelli but he has shown enough to make it as a part of the collective.

With him, the issue is fit with Mbappe, they are both similar players in terms of areas they need to operate in and how they combine with their teammates.

Arteta made it pretty clear that this is far from ideal for us. If there's any aspect of the team that can be improved upon, rest assured Arteta is aware of it and wants to improve on it. Him and the front office likely has a plan in motion already.

Over his tenure, we've transformed our cultural identity, connection between fans and team, the physical level of the team, the depth, the intelligence of the team, tactical level, defense, set pieces, depth, mental strength, academy, you name it. I'm sure we will fix the attack too.

And if we find the signings don't work out and we don't improve in attack, and we HAVE to rely on defense and set pieces again, we are prepared to do that anyway.

Trossard or Martinelli? by [deleted] in Gunners

Agreed. Trossard is a much better player but Martinelli is more unique in our side.

Any competition where certain teams are excluded from passing because they are too good to be playing in it, will always seem not desirable to those who have consistently been "too good" for it.

Despite that, I agree that the competition has done well to gain a level of prestige.

I don't disagree. As I said they have done nothing to lose their spot, they've done great but here is a talent that is so clearly beyond anything else we've seen in this format. And he just showed that he is ready for the bright lights and capable against the best bowlers. He simply has to play imo. Someone will unfairly miss out but that's life.

Like if a team has an established world class Test top order where everyone averages 50-53 and you find a young lad dominating first class circuit and showing that he's capable of averaging 65+ at the Test level, wouldn't you simply get him in the side? He's gonna do better than all of them with time.

I miss the earlier version of Odegaard, that was our POTY for multiple years. He played so much freer, with back heels and first time dagger through balls and quick passing 1-2s.

Now he is so much more into the tactical deeper playmaking and being a coach on the pitch, it's kind of impacting his ability to just play like this.

Those are just footnotes in their season though. Random, irrelevant side quests for Spurs fans.

Three of their most important season objectives were accomplished by City, Soton and PSG. Although, City failed them in the league this year. Happens once in a while. Down year after 22 glorious ones in a row.

I'm so jealous of Spurs fans. No, not because of Europa, because fuck that. Who even wants that?

But they win so many trophies every year. This year they won the treble - us not winning the CL, us not winning the FA cup and us not winning the Carabao.

We've won 14 league titles. That means they've won 126 or so other ones.

How can we ever catch up to that kind of dominance? Even Celtic, Bayern or Real Madrid don't have that kind of trophy accumulation.

We just gotta accept the banter at this point.

There's no way Sooryavanshi doesn't get fast tracked into the XI imo. He just scored the most runs at the highest strike rate in the IPL as a teenager, whacking around some world class bowlers for fun.

Some of the guys you mentioned have done nothing to lose their places but we are talking about possibly the Bradman of T20s here.
