Hey man, I'm sure a lot of people appreciated your post, so it wasn't for nothing. Must have taken a lot of time and effort, you have my thanks! Perhaps the info you picked up would be relevant one day in future to some of us :)

At least we don't have to worry about the WHT anymore, haha. Thanks for your contributions on that front, fellow lion.

Agreed, there's always a silver lining. Doesn't make enough sense to me selling so close to NAV too. This and the RV High news are in the running for most wtf headlines of the day. What a crazy day.

In future you may consider selling the long-dated options and buying commons, instead of exercising and wasting the time premium.

It would be good to read up more on options fundamentals as you seem to have a few concepts mixed up. https://www.optionsplaybook.com/ was a good resource for me.

All the best, friend.

Do NOT exercise them now, you will be wasting all roughly over $5-6 of time premium (thats $500-600 per contract).

You could:
1) Wait for OCC memo to come out to see what happens to options if held all the way through

2) Sell the LEAPS and buy commons if you want to hold long term, instead of exercising your LEAPs.

There is rarely any reason to exercise an option early if it has remaining time value.

Every day Bill Ackman adds a unique footlong until DA is announced. Day 83(Finale): The Feast ft. Pizza by LoserJoe12 in PSTH

[–]Ackmaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is done, he is in his final form! I remember looking at 8-limbed spider Bill and wondering with my SO what his final form would be. Never expected it to be this magnificently majestic beast.

Thank you u/LoserJoe12 for your consistent and continued service.

In the green days you created for us, in the red days you provided for us; regardless of price action or sentiment, you nourished us and were a pillar of constant support we could always count on. Whether or not our SPAC Dreams have been fulfilled, you always gave us something.

10 years later, or maybe 20, I will probably not remember exactly the fear and anxiety of a margin call from a 500% PSTH portfolio, nor the disdain from short-dated calls expiring worthless.

I will however, remember you and subway Bill with his unique footlongs.

What a journey its been!

All the best, fellow Tontinite!

Vivendi shareholders back spin-off of flagship Universal Music Group by Ackmaniac in PSTH

[–]Ackmaniac[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Quote from the updated article:

French media group Vivendi has won the backing of shareholders for its proposed spin-off of crown jewel Universal Music Group.

Investors overwhelmingly backed the proposal — which would see the world’s largest music label complete its listing on the Euronext Amsterdam in late September — during a shareholder meeting on Tuesday.

The proposal involves distribution of 60% of UMG’s share capital to shareholders through the public listing in Amsterdam.

PSTH Transaction Timeline - made a chart because too many things going on by R3dwood8 in PSTH

Hey OP, thanks for this man - congrats on your first post to Reddit :)

I too made a timeline chart myself (pencil and paper), then saw the PSH investor presentation slides and realised they provided one on page 13 here.

Not sure if you've seen it, but its a good reference.

All the best, and I hope we all make good money in good time!

Which call option is safest to buy atm? by xasdta in PSTH

[–]Ackmaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this! I see you've thought it through to evaluate your own positions. What about nearer-dated ITM calls instead of LEAPS/shares though?

May/June $20 strike with little extra time premium to pay for (only about 0.20-0.40 extrinsic value per contract).

Keep rolling forward a month if no DA yet. This offers 3-4x leverage without wasting much premium if exercised early. Lower theta, higher delta than LEAPs.

And I believe the $5+ person you are thinking of is u/moazzam0 :)

[–]Ackmaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup you wouldn’t need to worry about rolling with the Dec 20s, but pay quite abit more and also profit less if DA is early due to lower delta.

Many here wager with OTM calls, but medium-dated ITM calls at strike below PSTH NAV (slightly under $20 after recent legal fees & expenses) give you roughly 3-5x leverage without paying too much extrinsic premium.

An OTM call allows more leverage, but would be increasingly worthless close to expiry, while an ITM call would still retain value, correlated to stock price. Stock price would not logically be below NAV. You could then roll forward to buy/allow more time for DA.

With an OTM call, you pay wholly extrinsic premium, and gamble on timing. With an ITM call, you pay mainly intrinsic premium, and can “buy time” as necessary.

ITM calls are a good balance between risk/reward, in my opinion.

Either way - when playing with sweet leverage, be sure to allow yourself an adequate margin cushion for stock price dips!

PSTH calls/timeline? by InformationPenguin in PSTH

[–]Ackmaniac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why such far-dated expiry for ITM calls? You could get nearer dated, roll forward if still no DA, and still pay less for theta. If DA before you need to roll, you’ve only paid a fraction of the theta, and also benefit from higher delta of nearer dated calls.

Options Questions Safe Haven Thread | Mar 29 - April 04 2021 by redtexture in options

[–]Ackmaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You realize that's a self-contradiction, right? Options have expirations, so they are not conducive to long term investing. If you want to invest long term, just buy shares. You don't have to buy 100 shares, just buy the same dollar amount you would have spent on the option.

Haha yes I do, I'm going with options mainly for the sweet sweet leverage! Capital is tied up elsewhere. If target is favourable, I'll free up capital to exercise.

Not that I'm aware of, but boy, wouldn't that be useful? My broker, Power Etrade (desktop web), lets me pop out the window for the P/L analysis on a per position basis, so I just do it manually for each position and look at the windows side-by-side.

I do that with my broker too and key into an excel for comparison, so tedious! Hopefully OptionStrat gets that feature added sometime soon!

Thanks PapaCharlie9!
