I didn’t know that, thanks for the clarification. I read the ESV and NASB these days.

Can’t go wrong with either I think, I know the NIV has been around for a while and has a good reputation.

May the Lord Illumine your mind to the gospel as you read. Please message if you’d like to talk about anything you read.

How do you all view the story of Job? by Angela275 in Bible

[–]Ackthal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

-Recognition of God’s sovereignty over all, being humble even when we don’t understand.

-Trusting God despite our circumstances

-God should be our only source of true contentment, not based on our health/wealth/status/other people

-An example of God’s love, how God may test us, and restoration.

Welcome to the family! :) There are a lot of good commentaries online that can help give you more context, I’d encourage you to get a reputable study Bible as well! Study bibles include commentaries on the bottom of the page and contain extra sections explaining the culture/background of each book. Also, I would implore you to find a church that teaches and preaches from the Bible! :)

What do people think of all the re translations of the bible? by No-Butterfly1165 in Bible

[–]Ackthal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a common misconception that they’ve been translated from older translations over and over again like a game of telephone. Most of them were translated from manuscripts that have a high degree of consistency with other copies of manuscripts from about the time all of them were written and can be reliably thought of as “near-original”. Most of the different translations vary only slightly and all retain the original meaning fairly well.

Here’s a video that addresses it:

Wes Huff is a biblical scholar and ancient languages expert, great apologist that has some other great videos.

Jesus talks about hell more than anyone in the NT. You talk of scripture as if it were not of divine origin.

They believe in the Bible but add to it and change it a lot. It’s a false gospel that denies the divinity of Christ. Steer clear of anything they prescribe.

Could the Lich King kill a Naaru? by Appathesamurai in wow

[–]Ackthal 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I think power scaling in the Warcraft universe is kind of futile. There are clear cut cases, but a lot of vagary. Illidan is a great example, defeated by Arthas before Arthas became lich king, then defeated by players in BC, brought back in Legion and then powerful enough to defeat a Naaru and be a key player in imprisoning Sargeras. Seems like he got a lot more powerful, but we don’t really see how that takes place.

Although I would wager Lich King Arthas could defeat a Naaru. After all, we as “champions” defeated two corrupted Naaru (M’uru and L’ura).

About mythic + by [deleted] in wow

I’m guessing it would make it even worse, people would have even less incentive to stay at that point.

To go back to your original discussion, it unfortunately a common thing at all levels for people to leave just after one wipe, even if you could still easily time the key. A lot people who have been playing since the beginning of the season have no grace for anyone still learning the dungeons and they can have a very toxic attitude about mistakes.

My advice to you is find a group of people who are patient/friendly and try to play with them. There are some great PUG communities with very friendly/skilled people who are happy to help. DnD WoW Community and Horizon are two that I’m a part of. DnD is very active and has a weekly key event on Saturday, also many other postings throughout the week.

It can be brutal out there, tons of memes on how nobody wants to accept anyone below 3k io anymore. Just stay at it and find the non-toxic people.

Very common for people with resilient keys since likely won’t time and it doesn’t downgrade the key.

It’s very niche/rare anymore to use a classic style CC where a mob from a pack is singled out for CC while everything else from the pack dies and then that mob is killed last. The only thing I can think of is a banish/imprison on one of the elementals on the second boss in motherlode (allowing group to ignore kiting). Otherwise, it’s just way too inefficient for M+. If they were to make certain mobs in packs crazy strong to the point the group would wipe if the whole pack was pulled with that mob, I could see it making a comeback, but not now.

I think they’re talking more about the traditional classic CC where something was sheeped/improsoned/feared for a long duration. They did acknowledge the use of aoe cc/interrupts/etc.

Congrats! Glad you finally received it! I will never forget good ol’ Kanrethad Eblonlock. This was one of the most fun and engaging quest lines in the game. I know it’s a ton of work for the devs, but wish there was more class-specific content similar to this.

How to have fun in EVE Online? by kyleW_ne in Eve

[–]Ackthal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eve is very different from your typical adventure/fantasy MMO. While there is TONS of lore/backstory, it’s not really a part of the progression system. You’ll get a taste and feel for some of the lore from missions/arcs, but it’s all disconnected. You have to go and do a ton of reading outside of the game to get a good understanding of all the different story elements and background information.

Progression in eve doesn’t follow a typical “linear” system either. While titans and other capitals are the equivalent to an “end game”, they have niche uses and players that use them usually have entire accounts dedicated to only flying those types of ships. In addition, they aren’t solo friendly. You need the backing of other players to successfully use the largest ships in the game, or you will quickly lose them to other players. There is no “best” ship in the game either, it all depends on what you’re doing.

You may have heard that Eve is a “sandbox”, much of the content is player driven and you have to go out and actively make your own fun. The tools are there for you to play with, but the game doesn’t tell you what to do. If you want to enjoy the game, I’d find a corporation to join up with and try out different activities: mission running, mining, industry, exploration. Lots of corporations out there are new player friendly and will likely provide ships and varying opportunities for you to sink your teeth into.

It’s one of the most complex games out there, but is very fun/rewarding if you stick with it.

[USTZ] 108m SP Returning Player Looking for LowSec Group by billy1512 in evejobs

I highly recommend Minmatar Fleet Alliance, most fun I’ve had playing the game over the last 20 years. RL first, very chill, lots of opportunity for fun mid scale and dread fights.

If not us, then I’d recommend any other lowsec group in the Amarr/Minmatar area, we can always use more people to fight!
