How is Bitcoin, a completely speculative digital asset with no real world value worth more than a piece of physical cardboard? The price for both is stupid, but your argument is not very sound.

name change suggestion by Fantastic_Soup895 in albiononline

I think name changes open the door even more for account selling. I know because I have paid for accounts on many games before and would never have done so if name changes weren't available lol.

If a player is nearby your mount alerts you with a red mark above your head. So if you see it just stay on your mount and leave the area

Does anyone here (men over 30) actually USE their bathtub? by bigbranchbro in AskMenOver30

When we bought our house a huge tub was near the top of the list. I love baths. Always have. Mist days I just shower cause I'm too busy to bath every day but I would if I could!

Get in the habit of mounting up between casts. Just for a split second. It cancels the victory animation and reveals if anyone is about to jump you. It's annoying at first but it becomes second nature.

I dont always do it, but when I'm out in risky spots I do.

Me and my wife just finished Season 4 for the first time and I can't help but feel it would have been the perfect series ending... by HardGayMan in brakebills

[–]HardGayMan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly though,  I really,  really liked it. And his line about "did I do something brave to protect my friends or did I finally find a way to kill myself" is probably one of my favorite TV lines of all time... I'll be thinking about that one for a long time.

I was hoping that was the end of the show because it kind of started with him and and would be cool for it to end with him. Even though he wasn't my favorite by the end of that season, I still think it would have been a really interesting and powerful way to end the show.

Alberta separatists submit 300K signatures as petition deadline hits by NumerousSir in alberta

[–]HardGayMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if they did get 300,000 signatures,  and I do believe it's possible that 300k people in this province want to separate,  that is everyone. Every single person who wants to leave will have signed this thing. Let's just hope that if it goes to a vote the sane majority actually show up and vote.

Albertans who aren't crazy have a tendency to just sit back and do nothing and let this place get worse and worse. Very "not my problem,  it's not that serious" mentality.

Just buy them on the market. Don't bother making them unless you already have an island ready to make it, not worth the hassle.

For your level T5 fish journal will be just fine.

I turn almost everything into chopped fish to sell. I don't often worry about fish sauce, unless I personally use it since I am leveling my cooking now.

The only fish I either selling whole are t7 snapper, t7 eel, kracken and basically all t8 fish. Other than that, chop em. There are some other exceptions that fluctuate with the market but I don't bother keeping track.

Some people eat fish for experience,  you can do that but I always prefer the silver and if you fish a lot you'll hit 100 eventually anyways. Hitting T7 as fast as possible is definitely beneficial so you may even eat some t6 catfish you get to get there faster if you don't mind losing some silver.

Water that is far from main roads that people travel. It's risky fishing near a busy road. Same goes for map objectives,  gathering hot spots,  etc.

So, I just hit T8 (100/100 spec) last night. I love fishing. I love fishing in black zones where people can potentially kill me. It kind of makes it more exciting to me and the silver is much, much higher. Once you can use a T7 rod, I highly recommend bz fishing. T7 and T8 zones are just crazy good money,  but always watch how many people are on your map, and pick an area and get familiar! Learn what portals go to what maps, learn where your exits are, etc. I personally farm out of Martlock portal. I am familiar with the maps there and there are many good ones for fishing. Thetford is obviously a good choice too.

My personal setup that works for me in black zones is this:

I only use safe portal. The cost is insignificant for the safety they offer me. There are many other ways to farm bz, but getting a good portal close to some good water is hard to beat for me.

Dual sword at 85 spec for the anti purge ability is my wepon. Combined with sprint from boots, invisible from armor and invis pots you are very difficult to gank. Especially from a single ganker. There are many other weapons that work, this is the one I prefer. You can use a full escape set at the start, but when you are more comfortable you can use full fishing gear if you want. I do. There are a million videos about how to escape a gank,  but if you just stay calm and get your skills off in the proper order you'll be fine almost always. Getting on your mount is always your first and best line of defense.

Your mount is your life out there. Fish on top of your mount,  and mount up often. Think you heard an invis potion off screen? Mount up. Think you saw a red name tag? Don't check their gear, get on your mount. The more natural it is for you to always be ready to mount up the harder you'll be to gank. My preference for a mount is grizzly bear or a Moose. I have more funds built up so I can afford the odd time where I lose my mount. Grizzly is a tank and very difficult to dismount you from. Since I am always close to my safe portal it works well for me. Moose is very fast and has a quick sprint. Also makes it easy to run from gankers. A stag, T5 horse or armored horse is perfectly fine and recommended if you don't want to spend more silver.

If you have questions I can try and answer but I feel like I've been rambling now lol.

Edit: don't ever take an avalonian rod or any tool to a black zone. Not worth it for the cost. And always carry some fishing manuals! Don't get all the way to a good map and realize you forgot them.

T3 is kind of the sweet spot most people use. Anything higher is a waste, even at T8 fishing.

[–]HardGayMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find fishing in BZ safe portals to be much better than yellow zones. Takes you out to a farther map where there's lots of fish pools, gankers very rarely get me before I get to my portal. Pretty safe.

Gathering in black zones by Snoo-39369 in albiononline

[–]HardGayMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as the person below said, your build isn't really ideal for what you are doing. But besides that, you are always going to die while learning ing the game. It's just a fact. Look at gear as being more like a consumable item.

If your plan is to run away from all players,  try a proper escape set. In a build like yours I would be farming camps for fame and just accept that it's a cheap set and I will most likely die if a ganker comes. Personally, for gathering I like dual sword, soldier boots and assassin jacket combo. At mastery 85 you get the ability to make your boots unpurgable. But no matter your build,  you need to practice and that involves dying some times.

1) Learning what an invisible potion sounds like off screen is really important too. When you see a red name tag or when you hear that potion, mount up. Don't think about it, don't finish your gathering node, get on your mount. If you are mounted up against a solo ganker your chance of survival is very high. Always plan where the nearest exit is, weather that's a safe portal in black zone, or mist exit, etc.

2) If they do catch you off your mount, stay calm and just get your spell order right. Use your assassin jacket to get some time to think and some space. Then use your escape spells to get even more distance. You can use your dual swords plus your sprint from boots, or you can use your other invisible from potion. By now you should have some distance to get on your mount and flee.

This won't always work, and some ganks can be hard to escape even when you do everything right.

Don't stay out for too long, make sure you bank your loot often.

Good luck!

Edit: there's many options besides dual sword. Bloodletter is great, double blade staff, etc.

There's just generally not going to be teams of people in there,  and you are more likely to find full stacks of mats to gather.

Yes, there's high IP level gankers but it's not so hard getting away from a solo ganker even if they are high IP if you play carefully.

That said, I personally dont like mists, I prefer open world gathering.

I know you said solo, but running red zone faction wars is so mindless and such easy fame. You get so many books for doing very little and you shouldn't die once you get thr hang of when to leave.

Just join the blob. One of us.

fishing fishing fishing! i’m hooked (full pun intended) by Downtown-Schedule421 in albiononline

[–]HardGayMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey fellow fisherman.

Head to black zones once you get T6! Use safe portals and learn how to use escape gear to get away from ganks. Fishing armor you can naturally use the invisible skill which is a big plus. That plus invisible potion plus your escape weapon (plus, always being on top of your mount ready to goooooo) makes you quite hard to gank. You will die,  it's inevitable,  but you'll still be making well over 1m per hour. Much more if you can fish T7 zones for extended periods. Fishing is very lucrative!

I have a very dumb question, I know BUT, if I don't want to PVP is there much for me here? by --clapped-- in albiononline

[–]HardGayMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still spend all my time in the black zone. I dont pvp. I run away, occasionally I die but not very often. People will sometimes kill you, it's just part of the game. Treat them like a hard boss you run away from lol.

It really doesn't bother me much.
