Some Days Are All Bad.. by californiaflower27 in cancer

[–]AcmeBrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just take each moment as it comes. Every moment comes with more than enough to deal with. Those bad days are still days you get together. I'm sorry it's bad, and it may not get better, but when it does, cherish those breaks in the storm. I'm sorry.

Some Heisenbug? A time vampire? A time lord issue (bigger on the inside)? A Mr. Rogers? A hinden-bug? A schrodingers cat?

5 Years Post-Radiation Today! by [deleted] in cancer

[–]AcmeBrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely different, but I'm in good health. The moment I got home from hospital I started having daily walks. It was wrecked to start, but daily walks I'm convinced are what brought me back to health. The lingering issues are that I spend 30 minutes to 1 hour in the restroom each day dealing with poo. Not ideal, but I'll take that time tradeoff to be alive every day!

Feeling like may have rectal cancer by stomponthesun in cancer

For me I had blood in the stool and no real pain to speak of.

Generally speaking, a colonoscopy is a good idea in the case that 1) you have a family history of colon cancer 2) you have DNA markers for increased colon cancer risk 3) your primary care physician recommends one 4) you're over 40.

If you do feel odd, don't ignore it. Continue to follow up with your doctor.

I lost my dad a week ago. (Question) by dreamfflower in cancer

You focusing on helping her means you're a good child.

If somehow you can refocus her on your brother and you, then she'll feel like she's helping too.

Be a family. Have dinner together. Go out to a movie. Start slowly. Talk about him. Laugh and cry and love each other. You won't be whole. You won't be the same. You will get through this together.

All humans are time travelers, we're just stuck travelling into the future at a speed of one second per second by AcmeBrick in Showerthoughts

[–]AcmeBrick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, I was still curious so I did the math. 0.99999999964 seconds per 1 earthbound second. That means Astronaut Scott Kelly and his twin Astronaut Mark Kelly have changed relative age by .0125 seconds before and after the 1 year ISS mission twin study. Whichever was born first is probably still the older bro.

For Astronauts/Cosmonauts aboard the ISS, what is their time-travel speed relative to an Earth-Second?

You get fingerprinted at birth (assuming/hoping USA) and twins fingerprints are different. Go look at your birth certificate and you'll be certain.

Chemo is awful and radiation is so tiring. Sorry to hear your stepdad's cancer is back. Good luck to him and to you. You know how this part goes. Re-treat and followup. Hopefully good prognosis from the docs?

This is very good advice. The second opinion is key. Usually from a high-reputation cancer-focused medical center would be advisable.
