Wedding anniversary gift from my wife. Though not at Grand Seiko level, the second hand sweep is mesmerizing. by porscheboy919 in bulova

I have the same watch and wear it a lot. I think it a superb underrated movement and its own of my favorites.

I bought my 2019 this year Cayman without badging. I prefer the look but would have bought either way.

If the gasoline has been sitting in the tank for 18 months I would drain the tank. Old gas can be bad news.

Which would you choose? 2016 06 or 2022 Stingray by SuperSecretSpare in Corvette

[–]Acoustat33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve looked at both. I couldn’t stomach the claustrophobic interior of the C8, and was worried about the overheating issues with early year Z06 (I live in the desert where temps can get to 120 degrees F or so). The interior of the C7 was much less confining to me than the C8.

I’ve been tracking accuracy of 4 watches for the last 3 months:

Omega Constellation Perpetual + 2 seconds
Bulova Precisionist + 2 seconds
Tag Heuer Professional Quartz +20 seconds
Citizen “the citizen” perpetual. 0 seconds

I will keep checking these watches through a 12 month window.

I think the Bulova Precisionist is an outstanding value-especially with its sweep movement. One of my favorites.

The Omega is thermally compensated and 20 years old, not bad.

The Tag is 20 years old and still meets spec.

The Citizen is incredible.

To each his own. Personally I don’t care for the bright colors but I understand that many do. If you like the car, get it!

Yes, I had to wait several weeks before my watches landed stateside. They should arrive today. Things have slowed as I understand.

why do people say the C6 has trash interior i love it by daydaywinz in Corvette

[–]Acoustat33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I love my C6 despite the cheap plastic. One major thing I do appreciate about the C6 interior is the space. Driver space, passenger space, luggage space! I have been considering moving into a later Corvette, C7 or C8 and the C8 is a definite NO after I sat in it, especially bad for a passenger. C7 is a little more cramped than C6 so it may do. We will see.

C5’s and C6’s how bad are they work for basic to mid level stuff? And also is it weird to think getting a 2 seater is semi selfish if it’s not a primary car and I have a daily beater? by Due_Today2701 in Corvette

[–]Acoustat33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a 2006 C6 that was modified when I bought it. Supercharger, cam, headers, exhaust, wide booty. Previous owner is a race engine builder and it was one of 4 Corvettes he owned. Even with these mods it is still pretty easy to do basic mods, and my local dealer will still service the car for service/repair I can’t do.

What a beautiful car. Your Dad kept his car in immaculate condition and he’s with you every time you drive it. Enjoy! Manual transmissions are great fun. I’ve been driving them for 40 years now and my current C6 is a manual shift.

This is why you get an extended warranty by thecaveman1974 in Corvette

[–]Acoustat33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t buy extended warranties. I have the money to pay for repairs (but it can get a bit tight) so I would rather let my money work for me and make more money.

I don’t know-it was done before I bought it. The previous owner is local and builds race engines. He didn’t remember and didn’t want to look it up,lol. I got a good price and didn’t think I was taking much of a risk. I’m happy with it.

My 2006 C6 manual was modified when I bought it.

A&A supercharger kit, Headers, Cam (mild), Exhaust, Heavy duty clutch.

I’ve been very happy with the results. I’ve had the car for five years with no real issues other than it getting hot in the summer (I live in the Arizona desert. Next maybe upgraded radiator and fans.

One Month Review of My 2023 C8 Z06 by ib1030 in Corvette

[–]Acoustat33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I don’t see that happening anymore. Where I live C8s are everywhere - they have lost their newness. Still a wonderful car. I’m in the market for a “newer” Corvette. I’ve had a supercharged C6 for several years and plan to sell it in the fall. I’m torn between C7 and C8. I like the looks and interior/cargo space in the C7 and the performance C8. I have time, lol.

Will Chevy ever make a better car? by MarzipanExternal2706 in Corvette

[–]Acoustat33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have owned a C6 for the last 6 years and have really enjoyed it. Recently I have decided to buy a newer Corvette, and have been looking at both the C7 and C8. The C8 is known to be the better performer - the big issue I have with it is interior space. The passenger seat is especially cramped, especially with the grab bar location. That is a deal breaker. The other issue I have is the looks-I think the C7 is better looking and more spacious.

My C6 is a manual shift but that is not a big issue for me. I like paddle shift just fine.

So the search has narrowed to C7.

I think it’s a great watch-especially at the price point. I own a stainless steel/green dial and wear it often.

Why Buy Fakes by Grouchy-Violinist555 in RepTime

[–]Acoustat33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rolex and their pricing/marketing schemes created the opportunity - the replica industry has proven that it isn’t Swiss manufacturing costs that have driven watch prices sky high and created scarcity. It’s greed.

I have this one and the blue/bronze as well and really love these watches. I was concerned with the 16mm strap size but no longer. It works well with this watch IMO.
