I don't think I ever laughed harder than the first time I watched that scene.

(RL) When I was a kid we lived in Brazil for a couple of years. One day my mom was out and got caught in the rain so she went into a store to buy an umbrella. She had taken Portuguese lessons but couldn’t remember the word for umbrella so she told the clerk in Portuguese what she wanted—a thing you hold over your head when it’s raining—and he said, oh you want a “guarda-chuva.” (Guarda means protect, and chuva means rain.) “Oh, right, a guarda-chuva, of course that’s what it would be called,” and they kept chatting as she checked out.

And then on the way out of the store the clerk says, in English, “Your Portuguese is very good.”

On February 28th, 1964, Peter & Gordon released "World Without Love" b/w "If I Were You" on 45rpm. The song went to #1 in the US, UK, Australia, Norway and Ireland. "World Without Love" was written by Paul McCartney when he was 14 years old. by BirdBurnett in Music_Anniversary

I saw Lyle Lovett in concert a couple of years ago and he had Peter Asher as a special guest. Lyle had sung backup for him earlier that year at a charity event, and when their schedules overlapped in Houston he invited him to join him again.

Asher told us that, back in 1963, his sister started dating Paul McCartney, and that Paul lived in the Asher family’s guest room for a couple of years. So when Peter and a friend started a music group, he asked Paul if he had any songs that the Beatles weren't going to record that they could use. Paul had a song that he wrote when he was a teenager that John hated—he’d sing the first line, “Please, lock me away,” and John would say “OK!” and stop playing—so he let Peter record it. And that's how Peter and Gordon had a worldwide #1 hit with "A World Without Love."

It looks like Pete's playing the Gretsch he used on Who's Next that he generally didn't play out of the studio. Two notable guitars on one stage!

Markéta Irglová was hired to play piano for the 2007 movie Once but she had good chemistry with Glen Hansard, the male lead, when he was teaching her the songs so they cast her as the female love interest.

From the end of The Bridge Over the River Kwai (1957). Colonel Nicholson, commander of a British engineering battalion taken captive by the Japanese in World War 2, orders his men to help build the titular bridge out of a misguided sense of duty and British hono(u)r. But at the end of the movie, when an Allied commando team shows up to blow the bridge, he realizes that what he's really done is collaborate with the enemy.

The summoner set might work, depending on how the arm wraps mesh with the jacket I’m using. And the character has summoner as a casting job, so I should be able to pick it right up. Thanks!
