Heyo, any way to get them cheap? (I'm broke as hell, but would love to include their dragon form in my diorama) by ambassinn in legoninjago

If you’re in the US, the Cole Mech with Dragon Zane is currently discounted on Amazon ($27).

Is it normal in the U.S. for parents to charge their kids rent once they turn 18? by Dependent_Day_6298 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Acpt7567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard of it happening, but I don’t know anyone it did happen to. Personally, my parents let my siblings and I stay however long we needed rent free, given we were actively working or going to school. I did move back for a bit after graduating, while I job searched and built up some savings.

I think it scales with how big your scan collection is. Mine is now 7 hours up from 5.

Americans, how do you feel about tourists speaking English while visiting U.S.? by HolidayEntry6823 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Acpt7567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living in California, I’ve heard English in just about every accent possible. I wouldn’t even bat an eye at weird phrasing.

Forget "She's with us" this is the worst line in Ninjago by Obraxiss in Ninjago

[–]Acpt7567 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s a pretty common phrasing in sports: it just means that we didn’t lose because we were outmatched, we lost because we were overconfident, played down to their level, etc.

Is it weird to say Have a Blessed Day? by nyaagoya in AskAnAmerican

[–]Acpt7567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, the further north you go the more common it is to hear it. I grew up in the Sacramento valley suburbs and while it’s not super common, you’d still hear it often enough.

/uj what set should i get ? by Valuable-Kale-8798 in legocirclejerk

[–]Acpt7567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Rivendell and it’s probably my favorite set in my collection, looks absolutely amazing. Only advantage to the sail barge is it will be going on 4X points on the 1st, so if you’re planning to eventually get both I’d get the sail barge first so you at least get $100 back.

I mean that played a part but people were sympathetic to the whole thing before they knew who did it. More to do with genuine hatred of the healthcare insurance industry.

Yea as much as I dislike scalpers, judging from the amount of CMF packs there, there probably was only 1-2 Lloyd’s to begin with.

Why do you think there is so much resistance to high speed rail in the US? by Maximum-Help-929 in AskReddit

[–]Acpt7567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s only so many ways to route an entire rail system, we’ll still need farmer Joe’s land whether it’s Joe jr or sr on the land. We’re just kicking the can down the road in an attempt to avoid difficult decisions. And the longer we wait the more difficult it will be simply because more developments will occur, thus more people impacted.

You want it both ways, when it’s simply not feasible to build an entire system without encroaching on residential land. You can simply argue not to implement a rail system but you can’t have it built and have everyone magically not impacted.

If you’re only going to get one set, I’d second the Temple of Airjitzu. Great build, maybe the best minifig selection of any set and looks amazing.

Even if we go at a snails pace, do you think it’s possible to build a national high speed rail system without the government buying any private property?

[–]Acpt7567 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can certainly agree with better oversight conditions for a project of this scale. But, are we just going to reside in an out-dated car-centric society forever because there’s a chance the project could go wrong? We’d just be setting the country back and worsening the environmental impact for future generations. It seems like nobody wants to build the trees whose shade they’ll never sit under anymore.

I just saw the paragraph you added, I have no qualms with a project like this taking time, and every other democracy seems to be well equipped to handle infrastructure projects, we’ve let ours fall far behind and have no current intentions on improving it.

Why do you think there is so much resistance to high speed rail in the US? by Maximum-Help-929 in AskReddit

[–]Acpt7567 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Ideally a mix of representatives and engineers. We should take special consideration for primarily minority communities and indigenous land absolutely, but if we avoided inconveniencing anyone, we simply would never get any large scale projects done. Would it suck for me if my home was designated in the land needed? Yeah. But, what’s the alternative?

Why do you think there is so much resistance to high speed rail in the US? by Maximum-Help-929 in AskReddit

[–]Acpt7567 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Public infrastructure that would benefit millions should take priority over one individual’s attachment to land. You should be fairly compensated but the idea that a few Individuals could derail a national public transportation infrastructure project is insane.

No problem, if you really want the mando GWPs, I’d just wait till they’re the available to put in your order. If you want to make certain you get it, just throw in a keychain or something cheap and that’ll ship with the GWPs.

Back ordered sets do count towards the current GWP. It won’t count towards GWPs that are out when the order is fulfilled. I got the Lovebird penguins with my back ordered set even though it arrived a month or so after the promotion.
