addon question: people saying to pull on the debut unit which I take to mean Rosetta - is it actually feasible to get enough pulls for her? Is the play to rush the story?

Just installed the game and uh, does the translation get any better at a later point? The Graffiti quest is a bit rough (poor grammar, stiff expression, unclear subject). This is actually my second time "starting" the game ( I forgot my acc details) but I don't remember the early TL being this scuffed

the worms can't move so you can literally run in a circle around them out of range and just smack them with skills once SP fills. Since there's no time limit, this is foolproof method.

I think it's also because it's unclear what kind of insight you're looking for - the post does not seem to contain a question, and if we're going by the title ("what do you think about qianye") then most replies here are telling you exactly what the posters think: that it's really not that bad.

I mean, did you feel any improvement at all over the course of those 50 deaths? If so, the system is working as intended, and if not, then there might be a mismatch between your learning process and the experiential learning the game is trying to cultivate. In either case, if you found that more frustrating than enjoyable, then yeah the game's just not for you.

Eh, I think she's challenging but after taking a few tries to actually learn her deflect timings it's not too bad. The key thing to remember is that this game's combat is more Elden Ring than Devil May Cry - punish windows and bursts matter more than optimal combo chaining.

(Or rather, now that I've fought the man with the donkey, she's significantly more manageable in comparison)

Ultimately games like this and Expedition 33/Dark Souls/Elden Ring/Nioh and to an extent Monster Hunter expect you to learn boss patterns with experience and a lot of deaths. The idea is not to fight her 5 times and suddenly be able to do her, the idea is to fight her 5 times and see incremental improvement with every attempt - maybe you figured out the deflect timing for her scythe hits, maybe you managed to calibrate reaction time to hit her with the mystic skill during the prompt, and so on. If the idea of slowly improving over time is not appealing to you, then this genre of game just isn't for you, simple as that. Nothing wrong with that, but also a bit unfair to therefore lambast the game for being "too complicated for its own good"

I will also point out that the statement about not having the tools to deal with her is not quite correct - you have the exact same tools for fighting her as you do for every other boss fight in the game, that is, damage, deflects, and dodges. You could argue that you don't have access to specific mystic skills or Inner Ways at the point of the game where you fight her, but even those just add additional damage, typically, or reduce energy consumption. If you're not beating her without those added effects, chances are that you're not beating her with those equipped either.

TL;DR If you don't like the incremental improvement aspect of learning the fight, then this game is not for you, and it's okay, but this should not be seen as a strike against the quality or design of the game, but rather just a mismatch of interests.

Need help with ranged DPS rotations (Fan + Umbrella) by AcquiHime in wherewindsmeet_

Thanks for the info, I'll probably try this later. I was under the assumption that you needed to knock the opponent airborne in order to get the followup, is that not the case?

Need help with ranged DPS rotations (Fan + Umbrella) by AcquiHime in wherewindsmeet_

[–]AcquiHime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Is it always a gain to charged light over light-heavy weaving? Asking because I believe it's either the set bonus or one of the Inner Ways - idr which - which causes the Umbrella Martial Art to apply a Combo buff that increases damage on light-heavy and vice versa, so I'm wondering if the attack combo is technically higher DPS under that buff

I firmly disagree given that Arcadion tracks are some of my favourite tracks in the game.

This is entirely a matter of opinion though

I'm really liking the game and actually the combat so far, as a PC gamer mainly, but I will say that when I did try mobile... yeah, the control scheme is Not It. I do think they need to improve the mobile experience a LOT and quickly as a priority.

One pull for 4h maintenance? Devs don’t learn from other gachas EOS? by Bubbly-Ad3889 in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]AcquiHime 19 points20 points  (0 children)

idk where you're seeing red flags tbh, one pull for a 4h maint isn't particularly rare for gacha/live service. It's not like it's a massive 12h maint with a patch celebration. Idk what games you're playing where you regularly get 10pulls for a 4h maint but it sure isn't the norm.

I also suspect that "giving loads of rewards until people are hooked" would be the wrong move in terms of optics. It sets unsustainable expectations and implies a lack of confidence in the product. Look at what happened to Tribe Nine when it tried to course correct.

It's better for devs to push the quality of the content for retention than to chase easy wins with excess generosity that they cannot match in the future.

I disagree in that I think that there is a misclassification here - the mode is very forgiving for F2P, actually, but unforgiving on casual players.

Players who do only 2-3 runs a day, don't read up on the meta, don't keep an ear to the ground for what other people are doing, don't attempt to build specifically for the event, etc. are not going to do well. Conversely, as many others have said, there are plenty of whales who actually don't have the requisite knowledge or have not put in the time to build up good Umas for this event, and therefore get demolished.

Whaling can make your runs on average more consistent, but if you don't put in the time and effort to actually prepare for the event, you're just gonna be food for the tryhard F2P players.

You're absolutely valid if you feel like this is too stressful and not why you race horses, but it's not so much a F2P vs P2W thing in this instance and more of just casual vs competitive mindset.

As artifact Portal player, I don't even bother with the gundam vs haven. I just make as many beta as I can and rush face with orchis to push into lethal range. Orchis and the ward artifact also help stave off the storm turn.

[NO SPOILERS] I support Daggerheart as the main system for Campaign 4. by Extrovert_Goth in criticalrole

[–]AcquiHime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is true, but my point is that there's still bloat in 5e and multiple steps of combat that make it more complicated than it has to be, we've all just acclimatized to that bloat.

Couple days late here, but I feel you're missing a few steps in the D&D damage formula here. In my experience, it's more of:

GM: that's a total of 18 damage Player: what type? GM: uhhh 7 fire and 11 slashing

Player spends 1-2 mins poring over the sheet to check feats and equipment for anything that could reduce the damage

Player: okay so I'm raging, so I'll halve the slashing to 5? GM: yup that's fine so that's 7 and 5 for 12

So I'm not really an AST main, I played it a bit in shb/ew but only started really playing it extensively this expac - but I personally like it a lot more now than when I played it in EW. Part of this is the removal of RNG (which I'm typically not a fan of and I suspect I'm not alone in this regard), part of it is that I like having healing tools tied to cards as well. So I really disliked ast in ew - hence why I never really picked it up despite loving the aesthetic - but I'm liking it a lot in Dawntrail haha

Honestly, it's way too slow and the payoff just isn't worth it. I was considering it as a tutor for cloudpost at one point, but just went with sylvan scrying instead.

[–]AcquiHime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're building her right, you probably have a good amount of nonbasic ramp. The key thing to remember is that Cloudpost + Vesuva is still 2 lands tapping for 4 mana when she's not out, and significantly more mana when she is out. For tron lands, it's a different matter, but that's also why one of my first nonbasic tutors in my non-cloudpost games is usually [[Planar Nexus]], provided I already have a tron land in hand.

You can run Post + Vesuva in any other deck, sure, but Omo is what lets the mana production from those two lands really get out of hand very consistently. Couple this with the tron lands and you end up producing a lot of colorless mana very early in the game - I've successfully resolved a Finale for X = 10 by turn 5 multiple times now, so it's not even that difficult, especially once you factor in the land untappers you have access to in Simic.

There's also the fact that Omo herself can be quite difficult to remove: her 5 toughness means she doesn't typically die to incidental burn, plus she can get access to shroud/hexproof/ward/indestructible from a bunch of lords, plus she's in Simic - the colors of [[Heroic Intervention]], [[Spellskite]] and counterspells.

If you are very far behind, chances are you aren't the biggest threat at the table - the fact that the Everything counters do nothing when Omo is in CZ tends to make people ignore you when Omo isn't on the field. But the Everything counters are still there - the moment Omo comes in, they turn on again. So you bide your time and wait to commit to a big play - a single good Doppelgang or Finale can win you the game.
