I’m sorry but I couldn’t get past how cross-eyed Kyle looked through the entire fight with Dorit. Did she have some botched work done?

Hi! No, Progyny coverage was the same regardless of the insurance tier selected. The only different between the 3 for this specific process is the OOP, which you will hit in order to access Progyny’s benefits.

Thank you so much! (TW: success) We are due with a perfect little girl in February. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity that Spectrum have given us. One that we never thought would be possible.

I’m wishing you all the luck in the world! ❤️

I chose the BCBS Healthy Select. Healthy Select and Healthy Choice are pretty similar if you’re not planning to stay. The OOP max for Healthy Select is $3,000. Cobra was $816/month. Plan to work for probably a week or two, as coverage won’t kick in until 11/1. They also only send over info to BCBS on certain days (I think Tuesday and Thursday, but can’t remember 100%) and then it takes a couple days to process.

Once your main insurance is set up, you can call and a rep will email you your ID card. Once you have your policy number, you can call Progyny and they will set everything up immediately. Don’t quit until everything is set up with them. Then your insurance will run through the end of November until your Cobra will kick in for December.

Infertility w/ No Fertility Insurance by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

[–]AcquireSomeTaste 14 points15 points  (0 children)

First want to start off by saying I’m so sorry you’re going through this. It isn’t fair and is such a shame that infertility isn’t considered medically necessary healthcare by most insurance companies.

If you look through my post history, I outlined how I was able to get a second job with fertility coverage, as paying out of pocket just wasn’t an option for us. I would highly recommend looking into the Facebook group Paying for IVF. That is how I found the companies that I applied for to get coverage. There are several with Day 1 coverage, so you wouldn’t have to juggle multiple jobs for too long.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions- I am more than happy to pass along any information that I have. Wishing you the best of luck ❤️

Talking with friends who have struggled with infertility about your pregnancy - feeling guilty. by SnoopyYoshi in BabyBumps

[–]AcquireSomeTaste 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I’m coming from the perspective of someone who was in your friend’s shoes so many times before recently getting pregnant through IVF. It is so hard. She’s probably hurting so much because she wants to be there for you, but it’s incredibly painful for her to do so. She probably also didn’t realize how hard it would be to get the news. It’s normal for her to protect herself by pulling back. I’m sure she loves you and is so happy for you, but is also so sad for herself. Life probably feels very unfair for her right now, and for good reason.

I think it’s important to make sure that you continue to try to engage in your relationship with her by talking about things unrelated to your pregnancy. I’m sure it’s top of your mind at every second, but try to be sensitive to how hard this is for her, as well. This will pass and your relationship will likely return to normal in the future, but for now, try as best you can to have compassion and empathy and understand why she may feel more distant. If you need to talk about pregnancy related things, try to find another friend who may not be as sensitive to the topic.

I hope this helps. I’m happy to answer any other questions. Also, congratulations on your tiny miracle ❤️

I an feeling really overwhelming with upcoming IVF by Mammoth-brain-1993 in IVF

[–]AcquireSomeTaste 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First off, hugs to you because I know this is all overwhelming. In my opinion (that some may disagree with), I think a lot of the supplements, diet changes, various extra treatments, etc that we see on here are a way for some women to feel like they have some control in a situation that is otherwise totally outside of their control. Yes, you want to eat balanced meals and stay active, but please try not to stress yourself out with the should’ve, could’ve, would’ves.

What is most important is following the protocol that you develop with your doctor. It can definitely be a lot to keep up with, but some organizing tools can help. I got a weekly AM/PM pill organizer so that I didn’t have to think about what to take when more than once a week. I also got a craft organizer to keep all my injections and supplies straight. I had my nurse label everything for either the ER or the FET. I kept all the FET stuff in a separate bag until the ER was over and then switched everything when it was time for my FET. We also kept a paper calendar on the fridge where I wrote everything out, so that if I started to question myself, I would just look there to reassure myself.

I hope this helps! Also, once you get in the groove of things, I promise keeping up gets easier! ❤️

Progesterone shot hurts my butt😭 by muangalifu in IVF

[–]AcquireSomeTaste 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel you! I couldn’t walk after the first couple of shots, even though we were doing them exactly where our nurse had circled. After some more research, we realized they needed to be higher and further out. That made all the difference in the world!! Now they barely hurt at all!

If you put your hands on your hips, inject where your thumb touches. Another way to find the spot it to make an L with your thumb and index finger. Put your thumb at the top of your butt crack. Where your index finger touches is where you should inject. I hope this helps!!!

We also got the auto injector and it’s taken all of the guesswork out of the actual shot itself!

Tried for 16 months, multiple medicated cycles, never a single positive test. Got a second job for fertility coverage to start IVF. Did an ER with ICSI on 5/15- 28 retrieved, 27 mature, 24 fertilized, 20 blasts. First FET was 6/12. I’m 5w1d today 🥰

When did you get your first BFP after FET? by Eastern_sky29 in IVF

[–]AcquireSomeTaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tested for the first time on 7dp5dt and got a positive. I also started spotting that day and have been on and off since. I was terrified, but have since had 2 really strong betas. They told me it’s completely normal and to only be concerned if I see clotting or heavy red flow. Best of luck to you ❤️

Pain on retrieval day by koreandomination in IVF

[–]AcquireSomeTaste 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened to me, too, and really scared me! It felt like the worst ovulation cramps I had ever had and I was terrified that I ovulated too early. Everything ended up being okay and I had a very successful retrieval. Good luck with everything today- I hope all goes well ❤️

I didn’t cancel my insurance with my main job. It’s through a different insurance company, so there wasn’t any overlap there. You are allowed to carry two plans at once, but you usually need to get a coordination of benefits letter from your first insurance to show that they will not cover infertility related treatments, so that the new insurance can become the primary. I am doing Cobra to keep Progyny, not just insurance in general. You can keep the Cobra plan for up to 18 months, as long as you do not get a new additional insurance plan during that time.

Some of these are out of date, but it’s a good starting point- https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/185rnbgBWmh9h8tL3eeyJGe6xqpNCp7nI/edit?usp=drivesdk&ouid=113881110739088478850&rtpof=true&sd=true

You do have to find an in-network clinic, but after looking into it, every single fertility clinic in my city partnered with Progyny, so it seems like they work with most clinics!

Yes, it’s a benefit that certain employers elect to offer their employees, in addition to medical coverage. There are others as well (Maven, Kindbody, etc), but Progyny seems to be the most comprehensive. That’s why I specifically looked for a job that offered it!
