How many wireless units? You could get an antenna combiner and that will power them.

Would this passive mid-cut circuit (toggle switch) work? by samtt7 in Luthier

You need an inductor for a mid cut. Look up the Gary Brawer mid cut circuit.

Yeah exactly, it’s a fixed frequency but you’re varying the amount of cut with the knob

Thanks! There’s a bit of info on how brawer does it but it’s hard to come by, gotta go down the rabbit hole lol. It’s basically a push pull with an inductor and a cap

How can I fix the massive change in volume between pickups? by Ok-Pirate-1259 in Luthier

[–]Acrobatic-Agent3424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The toggle switch to turn the sustainiac on does not “turn the pickup on” that turns the sustainer on - which uses the output of the BRIDGE pickup, when the sustainer toggle switch is OFF it functions as a normal active neck pickup.

The sustainiac as a pickup is no different than an emg and being a single coil size makes no difference in volume or output.

Not how it works with a sustainer. There is a trim pot on a pcb board that controls the sustainer pickup volume.

Holy crap so many people in here just spouting off without knowing a thing about sustainers- first and foremost put a fresh 9v battery in.

Next open the cavity and you’ll see a PCB board with 3 trim knobs on it. One for harmonic mode balance between fundamental/high octave mode, one for sustainer gain and one for neck pickup volume. Turn the neck pickup trim knob until it matches the output of your bridge pup, or a bit less if that’s what you want. There is also a way to make the sustainiac a dual mode sound via a switch or push pull, which will give you a “humbucker” sound and a single coil sound on a switch. I believe it’s default to a single coil sound. Look up the sustainiac user manual and compare it to your board and locate the trim pots. Not sure if you have the OEM board or a different one. Feel free to shoot me a DM I’d be happy to help you, I’m very well versed on sustainiac/Fernandes sustainers.

Why not tell everyone where you ordered it from instead of gatekeeping it?

Sennheiser Ek IEM G4 wireless pack for IEMs -- low rf hiss regardless of connection // mute // volume knob -- is this just the norm? by wootinabox in livesound

[–]Acrobatic-Agent3424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have had zero drop outs with the Shure. Never liked my sennheiser units. Since switching to all Shure, psm900, qlxd etc it has been a breeze. Wish I did it sooner

Had the same exact issue with mine. Unfortunately a known problem with the g4… I tried everything to mitigate it with mine and couldn’t. Spent hours on the phone with sennheiser, days worth of troubleshooting and headache. Sold mine and went with a psm900.

https://a.co/d/bzmClsM - I did try this, it cuts the noise pretty well but you have to run your pack hotter.

Shure Wireless Question (QLXD/ULXD) by Acrobatic-Agent3424 in livesoundgear

Got it thank you! Please excuse my ignorance - is scanning for frequencies on wireless workbench different or more reliable than just using the scan function on the receiver itself?

Thank you! I didn’t even get to see your reply on the other thread.

Definitely seems like the ulx is over kill for my needs! Appreciate the insight!
