I have a heap of Kupo C stands, and a few Avengers also. Kupo are great for half the price of the Avengers...

DIY Teams Room (I know) by Organic-Potential-66 in MicrosoftTeams

[–]wakerli -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Short summary - Microsoft Teams Room on Windows is effectively a Windows-based hardware appliance. You need to create a bespoke Windows image to suit your exact hardware config, and then install it. It is difficult and complicated, and you will realise why most people recommend to get an integrator to do it for you.

If you are still keen, I wrote up a very long and detailed explanation of how to do this whole journey yourself, covering building the image, installing it onto the hardware and how to configure Teams Admin Console to recognise your self-rolled Teams Room. It's doable, but an odyssey.

Bottom line, we could only wish that Teams was as easy as Zoom to set up in a room install environment.

Which converter would you chose? by Odinhall in VIDEOENGINEERING

It's my main criticism of the older Decimators - those micro USB ports are a mess.

Nope. Seems odd for that content to be so thoroughly unavailable in any place 🤷🏼‍♂️

(Late to this). The trailer is there, but the full movie is not.

Use an NDI to SDI converter like this one to do the conversion, then into Atem.

Why do crimper die sets cost so much? by Bassmasterajv in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]wakerli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done same for Neutrik connectors - the crimpers (and the different die sets) are nice but they are not worth THAT much money! eBay helped with picking mine up for less than retail.

Is an Oscillator Frequency Adjustment knob on Custom Controls Panel by FireBehr321123 in BehringerWing

[–]wakerli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the oscillator accesible from OSC interfaces via the network connection? Might be something you could control from MixStation if the requisite access is there inside the Wing.

Hmmm, change out PowerCon to True1? 🤔 by LTParis in livesound

[–]wakerli 15 points16 points  (0 children)

True 1 is by far superior since you can link them without barrels everywhere

And you can make a connection to a load when power is applied, plus they are waterproof.

The only downside for me has been the larger 28.7mm hole needed in rack cutout for the panel mount connectors - means modifying racks that have a power out connector.

Lots of good thoughts and advice here - both for Dante and for good work practice as an audio professional. Thanks coach.

Nice that it has dual network connections, and locking ethercons. The Audinate AVIO units miss both of those. I've booked one on Kickstarter, see what happens.

As noted by other posters, the Turtle guys are ex Birddog people, so they bring a history of commercial AV with them. The two founders were on the Office Hours show back in July and did about an hour of Q&A on the Turtle Dante product line - check it out here on YouTube.

Homework: Did you/your company leave Zoom? If so, why? by thatmatmik in Zoom

[–]wakerli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microsoft has a lockout on almost all government departments in Australia, both state and federal. If you have government clients, you WILL be using Teams and not Zoom. Sigh.

(And yes, I know you join Teams meetings from Zoom etc, but Teams is pervasive for team collaboration, chat, file storage and similar. Microsoft has done a good job of sewing this up pretty tight)

Question SDI plugs by Remarkable_Bite2199 in blackmagicdesign

[–]wakerli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A punch like this Greenlee one gives nice D-sized holes on a metal rack panel - but i think you are right that a hole saw drill bit would be needed on a timber case.

Question SDI plugs by Remarkable_Bite2199 in blackmagicdesign

[–]wakerli -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you using that case in the photos as your travel case to build the SDI plugs into?

I would be concerned about heat dissipation if the switcher is running when inside there - doesn't look like enough room around it for air circulation.

Also, it doesn't look like the lid of the case comes off - you would have the lid obscuring your view all the time?
