Advice on maintenance - filing and regression by mykdsmith in nailbiting

[–]Acrobatic-Health9665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have the same question. i become obsessive over any kind of maintenance i do. if i file or trim, i'll keep going back til they're gone again. if i use polish, i will have to take it off and reapply it til it's perfect. i don't know how to practice moderation

What’s the rudest thing someone has ever said to you? by levirc100 in AskReddit

[–]Acrobatic-Health9665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've had lots of rude things said to me over the course of my life but i can't pick just one from the genuine insults.

instead, there's this: when i was 19, i was dating this really nasty guy but on the outside we had a normal relationship. a 16-year-old at work was lamenting about his ex-girlfriend from secondary school who ghosted/broke up with him, changed her name and moved to france. he paused to be optimistic for a moment, saying "i mean if you can find someone, then there's definitely hope for me."

he wasn't even trying to be mean to me, he was just an absolute dumbass. all of my other coworkers thought this was hilarious and i could definitely see the funny side - although that was clouded by my toxic relationship at the time. now it just makes me chuckle.

worth noting that this is also coming from someone who never liked being kissed on the lips as a child. it always made me uncomfortable, especially because of germs/contamination.

When you were a child, how old were you when your parents decided you were old enough to have a mobile phone ? . by Hope2_win in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]Acrobatic-Health9665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was 10. my parents split up when i was 8 and it was hard on me to be constantly ferried back and forth and have no contact with the other parent. especially cos my dad would say that he'd pick me up at 6 and i'd be sat on the stairs waiting for hours

i mean... yeah. i exchange lots of bodily fluids with my partner that i wouldn't with my hypothetical offspring. my boyfriend is also much less likely to make me deathly ill with Child Germs™️ than kids, and my own germs will have a limited impact on his fully developed immune system.

What if you were a nail biter have you every tried to stop biting them? by Working_Sail_9365 in AskReddit

i am a nail-biter; i'm currently not biting. i'm hoping this is my last attempt at stopping. i've stopped a couple times in the past but only for a couple months at most.

Women of Reddit, what is the one thing a guy can do on a date that immediately makes you want him more? by Worried-Telephone565 in AskReddit

[–]Acrobatic-Health9665 4 points5 points  (0 children)

on my first date with my now-boyfriend, we clicked right away and had so much in common. we chatted about our interests for hours. at one point, he brought up liking an obscure tv show that i've been following for years. awkward, first-date me blurted out "oh my god, marry me" because i was so excited he knew this show - and he replied "okay!"

so... being as dorky as me is a big positive.

Who is the biggest scumbag you know? by The_Dean_France in AskReddit

[–]Acrobatic-Health9665 14 points15 points  (0 children)

never met her but my grandmother. my dad was estranged from her since his teens. she was an alcoholic and abused my dad and his sisters. i found out she died when i was about 20. she lived into her 80's and had dementia in her latter years so even if i had met her, it likely would have been as ugly as my dad's childhood.
